Not a bad beer. I am not a favorite of black and tans. It is a pretty smooth dark beer.

A lot of caramel flavors in this b&t. Not memorable, but a very drinkable blend from our Nation's oldest brewery.

A good "gateway" into the world of darker beers. Nothing complicated, just some mild roasted flavors and some bitterness. Slightly watery. I hear it's better on tap.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This beer has a pleasing aroma, and is dark brown, yet slightly transparent. Good flavor (although a touch sour) followed by a very mild hoppy aftertaste.

Quite fragrant, molasses and malts with light hops. Light tan head over dark, dark brown liquid. Head left quickly with no lacing. High carb and medium light water body. Tangy hops - bit sour. Light sweetness and OK malt balance. Pretty watery. Decent bitter, nutty finish and after.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2004 not the best black and tan, its sweet taste seem to over power its hoppy aftertaste when i had it cold, at room temp its slightly more balanced

coffee & caramel & notes prob from the porter, lighter than a normal porter and pretty smooth, not as robust tasting as it looks but about right for a darker beer that you want several of. I'm a fan.

Dark, heavy feel, but dissapointing when it came to flavor.. very thin and unrefined.

This is the beer staple in my house! I don't think I've gone more than a week without some of this in the fridge. It's inexpensive and absolutely wonderful. Goes well with everything!
