2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a deep brown with a minimal tan head. Aromas of roasted malts. Taste has a dominant roasted malt flavor with some chocolate coming through. Nothing complex but also rather easy to drink on. Doesn’t really fit the label of being a "black and tan" but comes off as a decent porter or black lager style.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks to my parents for bringing this back from the States. Pours a brown colour with a frothy beige head and a little lacing. Roasted malt scent with some notes of dark fruits and other fruity yeast. The taste is milder with the dark fruits, burnt malts and yeast. Mild bitterness in the finish. A decent macro brew that mixes a porter and a premium lager.

Rated based on notes taken on 22 Feb 2012 -- A good flavorful easy drinking beer that’s got more flavor than normal Yuengling.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Tan head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Caramel aromas. Sweet caramel and sour cardboard upfront turning to dry, smoky chocolate in the medium length finish.

T: Slightly sweet upfront. Notes of pale malts, crystal malts, caramel malts and roasted malts. Light notes of chocolate. Interesting notes of wood. Earthy yeasts and grassy hops. Light bitterness
M: Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Aftertaste is a mix of caramel malts, roasted malts, wood and earthy yeasts.
O: Medium drinkability. First time Black and Tan, interesting...

"this is a pretty good go-to beer if the place you’re at doesn’t have anything you REALLY like. it’s light-medium bodied, a little more robust flavor than expected, with a light, roasted, slightly dry finish. ok."

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel and toffee and light chocolate from the malts, some very light bitterness, and some bread/dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not the best of the style, but decent considering the price.

354ml bottle as a gift from Virginia, USA:
I was disappointed with this one a little, I was expecting a little bitter more from my first beer from a brewery with such a long history but this one failed to deliver; hopefully if I ever get to try their Dark Brewed Porter or their Premium lager individually they will come out better than this combination of the two did. The beer was too basic for my liking and the porter part seemed to dominate but when the lager did making an appearance it wasn’t welcome and seemed to negatively impact the taste; this one isn’t a beer I’d be eager to try again but I wouldn’t mind get my hands on some of the brewery’s other beers.
