3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from the tap to a dark brown atop the golden lager, with one finger tan head that lingered well and left okay lacing. Aroma was muted, but was mildly malty roasted nuts, toffee and slightly spicy. Mouthfeel slightly tingly and pleasant, and the taste sightly accentuated the flavors of the nose. Finish was fairly long, and decent, not watery like some lower price dark beers tend to be.
Not bad at all, especially given the price.

A great dark beer that is a combination of their Porter and Lager. 60% Porter 40 % Lager. A great caramel flavor - Great with or with out food.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle - Pours dark brown, no head to speak of. Weak aroma of dark malt, dry toast. First sip was mostly weak coffee and biscuits. Some hops in the after.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from One Stop Market. Aroma is bread, lager yeast. Appearance is dark mahogany with sparkle at edges of the glass, two finger-width foamy beige head with good retention and mild lacing. Taste is light flavor of roasted malts with more overpowering pedestrian lager flavor. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and abrupt finish. Overall, I was intrigued by the bready aroma and roasted malt flavor but then someone poured a Yuengling lager in it. There might be a decent porter in here somewhere--but this is way more tan than black.

Having just moved to S.C. from Northwest Washington State I have never heard of this brewing company. Come East and find out itís the oldest in the nation. I found this Black and Tan on the shelf of the local BiLo and decided to give it a try. All I can say is, Iím very impressed. To think all this flavor and complexity for a fraction of the price of Guinness, or Murphyís. Iím a buyer for life.

12 oz. Bottle. This is simply delicious. Porter meets Pilsner. Soft hints of caramel and grains. Tastes of caramel, coffee, chocolate & wheat. The pilsner aspect keeps the porter from giving that strong aftertaste that porters can give. Bravo yuengling!!

Light brown with reddish notes. Tasty and smooth body. Good mild aroma. Tastes more on a dark lager side.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Amerykański, lekki porter. Barwa niemal czarna, pod światło trochę brązowa. Ładna, lekko przybrudzona piana. Aromat dość ubogi - nieco karmelu, słodyczy i paloności. W smaku trochę metaliczne i dość wodniste. Jest karmel, czekolada, ale stanowczo mało. Lekko kwaskowe. Zdecydowanie za mało ciała. Przeciętne.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated from old notes, which summed things up as "decent mediocrity". The rich chocolate and off grainy notes give the impression of a decent porter mixed with a dubious lager.
