COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hallertau hops and Bavarian-style top-fermenting yeast deliver a thick, creamy head with overtones of banana and clove esters. This authentic German weizen style beer, with a slight hazy appearance, concludes with a crisp finish.

Yuengling Summer Wheat has a thick, off-white head, an initially clear, very bubbly, orange-gold appearance, some residual lacing, and a descending, gray-brown cloud, when the bottom contents are swished and poured in. The aroma is strong, with sweet, spicy, yeasty holiday bread, banana, and cloves. There is even a bubblegum pickup. Taste is not as full, but one can detect sweet, spicy wheat bread, higher-than-average bitterness, tap water, and a shade of banana. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Yuengling Summer Wheat finishes crisp and easy drinking. RJT

Mild aroma with hints of banana. Nice taste with beautiful orange/gold color. It us average as far as German weizen goes. Yuengling is one of my favorite brands but this fell short of my expectations maybe I was to critical because I love so many of their beers

Yuengling Summer Wheat is a hazy apricot colored brew with no real head. Nose is strong wheat esters. Very reminsicent of other wheat brews in the belgian and german style. Taste is dry and more of the wheat hop ester flavor that is strong in the nose. Body is lively and the first thing you notice when you take a sip. A nice clean and refreshing beer.

Bottle. Banana, orange, and wheat malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Lightly sweet orange and wheat malt flavor - hint of cloves in the finish. Light but very nice.

Pours yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is banana and sugar. Taste is also bananas and that usual German hefeweizen sweetness. Yuengling rarely disappoints.

On draught at the Pour House in Mountainhome,. PA. Arrived to the table a cloudy gold with a moderate white head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. Mild aroma wheat grain with perhaps a bit of lemon. The flavor follows the aroma but with a bit more emphasis. Refreshing. No problems.

Pours deep gold into a shaker. Off-white head crackles and recedes to nothing. Bubblegum and banana aromas. Soft and thin with banana and clove front to back. Abrupt bubblegum finish.

Pretty standard american type of a wheat brew. Flavor is sweet and not very wheaty compared to a true weizen brew.

Bottle: Hazy dark gold/brass with a thick, whipped, off-white head. Roasty banana, dark wheat scent. Taste is soft wheat malt, bubblegum, cola. Very creamy and malty. Sweet....really pleasant.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a weizen glass. It was difficult to decipher the freshness code. It cost $2.25 ($0.19 per ounce).

Appearance: Hazy body over an orange/gold hue with spastic effervescence immediately visible. Pours to a two-finger, white foamy head which mostly dissipates and leaves little lacing.

Smell: Traditional Bavarian-style hefeweizen aroma of banana and clove, but not as pungent as most.

Taste: Now that Yuengling is a real “craft brewery” according to the Brewers Association, it’s time to hold them to the same standards as everyone else. You’d think the oldest brewery in American with German ancestry would make a lot more German-style beers than just adjunct lagers, so it’s nice to see them taking their hand at a hefeweizen. And while this is definitely a beer that conforms to the style, it’s not exactly the best example of the style as it seems deliberately mild. That’s okay, because the average Yuengling drinker probably expects and wants mild.

Yuengling Summer Wheat has all the makings of an Old World style wheat beer: banana, clove, and wheat all dominate the palette. It’s actually a little juicy-tasting on the first half, though there’s a slight tanginess or astringency on the second half. That’s common in many wheat beers, but usually when they’re old. Otherwise, this beer is rather unremarkable – for better or worse. I enjoyed the taste, but it didn’t amaze me. I think a few tweaks and it would be even better.

Drinkability: There’s one thing you want in a summer beer: easy drinkability, and you get that here. Yuengling Summer Wheat has a slightly thin mouthfeel with a slightly watery texture. It’s crisp at first, but calms down quickly to the point of being flat by the end. Still, it’s always smooth and refreshing while in the mouth. I’m not sure of the ABV because Yuengling, for some strange reason, never puts that information on the bottles nor on their website. I’d estimate it around 5% ABV, possibly even lower as it certainly seem sessionable.
