Hallertau hops and Bavarian-style top-fermenting yeast deliver a thick, creamy head with overtones of banana and clove esters. This authentic German weizen style beer, with a slight hazy appearance, concludes with a crisp finish.

It poured a cloudy golden color with a small white head. The aroma was malty, with a medium body and medium carbonation. The taste was of clove, banana, spice and some wheat. Not bad.

Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - Mahan - 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy, kind of listless with a quickly diminishing thin off-white head. Aroma of cloves and artificial banana flavor. Flavor has some clove accents, a touch of artificial banana flavor, some yeasty accents, a touch of hard candy sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but ok for the style. Drinkable.

12oz bottle from JohnGonk. Pours a hazy orange color with a small/almost non existing white head. Aroma of honey, wheat, banana, and light Belgian yeast. Taste of sour lemon, banana, wheat, and yeast. Meh!

12 ounce bottle, one of my friends gave me a bottle to try. Served in a Leinenkugelís Sunset Wheat glass, the beer pours a cloudy golden/orange color with about an inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cloves, bananas, and some wheat/grainy malt. It tastes like cloves, bananas, lemon peel, wheat/grainy malt, and a lingering bubblegum finish. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, itís smooth, refreshing and easy to drink. This was a pleasant surprise, and since the Yuengling seasonals are usually priced well in my area (usually around $6.99 a 6-pack) Iíll have to buy some of this for the summer. I liked it.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a translucent orange with white lacing. Smells yeasty and clovey. Tastes like it smells, but less true to form. Average (at best) on the palate. Better than Bud.

Bottle from Yuengling. Pours golden an cloudy with a thin white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Slight banana note on the nose. Not a lot of clove or bubble gum on the tongue which makes the whole thing a bit dry. Clean finisher. Good to see Yuengling tackle a traditional style but this needs some work.

12 ounce bottle - $1.79 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Dim, clouded orange body with a thin, whitish head.

Smell: Basic nose smelling simply of malted wheat, thin toasted edge, and hints of clove and banana.

Taste: Slightly sourish wheat malt baseboards with a lilí toasted honey for a low, overall sweetness. Faint, faint lemon, slight clove, and a smidgen of banana. All flavors drop off the palate for the neutral finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Itís doable, but not the best wheat, well wheat-anything, by far.

12oz, twist-off bottle. Pours cloudy, orange-brown color. No head. Yup, smells of banana. Flavor of malted wheat, lemon zest, banana esters, caramelized sugars. Finishes dry, quenching, and a touch bready, with hints of clove spice under the flavors of cooked bananas. Itís a weak American take on a German Hefeweissen. (4049)
