An iconic American lager famous for its rich amber color and medium-bodied flavor - with a roasted caramel malt for a subtle sweetness and a combination of cluster and cascade hops, this true original delivers a well-balanced taste with very distinct character.

Yuengling long existed as a regional brewer, but in 1987, they re-introduced Traditional Lager, which has become their flagship brand, usually just called "Lager." To put this beer in perspective, itís really not a "craft beer," nor is it intended to be. It uses adjunct and would fall in line with macro swill on the profile scale, checking in at 4.6 percent ABV, 142 calories and only around 13-15 IBUs. It IS, however, a far cry from typical domestic crap. Yuengling has a nice copper color, as they do throw a little caramalt in the mash. Thereís a hint of sweetness in the nose and a slight caramel aroma lingers as it rolls down the gullet. Surprisingly, it has pretty good body for an American lager. It finishes clean with only the faintest whiff of any hop content. It gives a sense of a classic European lager, but without the fuller mouthfeel or protein body of the continental 2-row malt. It actually reminds me a bit of the pre-takeover Strohís when it was caramelized in the direct fire kettle, but with a little more body. It does have flavor, however, and that is not the norm for the typical "big brewer" product. Regardless, this is a wonderful session brew for a large American brewery and a domestic lager, particularly in the cold longneck bottle on a warm summer day. Serving type: bottle

Understand at $7 a 6 this is the best bang for your buck lager. Crisp easy, slightly skunky on the nose but not much at all in the taste of the beer itself. Generic Lager, crisp finish, plain taste of pale malts with light hops. Doesnít give bad hangover like Bud as its made of Barley and Hops instead of Rice and Corn. Americaís oldest brewery and still family owned, please support Yuengling. Maybe it gets over-hyped sure but it is not a soulless corporation like In-Bev or Miller-Coors. Iíd rate it better than Sam Adams Lager but put it up against Bud, Coors and Miller (all the same price) and it blows them out of the water. Support this quality American product if you want something easy drinking cheap and good and please stop shitting on it because its not Founders KBS and your Granddad acts like it is.

Aroma of weak malts. Has an okay copper body with a fast dying head. Flavour is fruity malts and nothing else. Watery on the mouth. an okay darker beer.

Yeast and sweetish malt aroma. Pours clear dark honey gold with a thick off white head that lasts a good while leaving a good amount of lacing. Very light. Thin mouthfeel. Papery finish. A little bit of an edge. I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It just tastes like any number of cheap beers.

Tap. Sort of a dark amber. Some okay head. A good breadiness with a slight banana yeast quality. Not the insane beer Iíve heard hyped by east coasters over the years, but definitely one I wouldnít mind drinking if it was the only option besides Bud Light.

Pours a clear amber-golden color with a quickly dissipating light tan, fizzy head. Toasty grain notes, some fruitiness, and toffee. Medium-bodied, somewhat creamy texture, with some moderate crispness. The aromas get expressed in the flavors, except that the fruitiness comes through more prominently.

A pale lager that kind of actually resembles a beer! Decent body, pour, & aroma. It actually isnít watered down but certainly doesnít carry a flavor explosion. Itís passable & thatís more than I can say about the majority of this style!

24oz ghetto can. Clear bronze color with ivory head. Caramel, toast, sulfur, oil refinery aromas. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Weak sweet caramel, toast, malty flavors with a lightly drying bitter finish___it is what it is.....

Bottle: pour is honey gold with a modest white head into this glass. It retains fairly well. The nose is light adjunct , moving to caramel, honey nuttiness, with a mild grassy note. The flavor profile is bittering grassy hops, with lively carbonation presence, with mineral water, adjunct, caramel malts, with a faded finish. Itís well...what I expected

Pours a deep golden with a medium, fizzy, white head. Aroma is corn and malt. Flavor is better with hints of grain, caramel, and light hops. Light body with medium carbonation. Not bad for the style.
