COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An iconic American lager famous for its rich amber color and medium-bodied flavor - with a roasted caramel malt for a subtle sweetness and a combination of cluster and cascade hops, this true original delivers a well-balanced taste with very distinct character.

Yuengling long existed as a regional brewer, but in 1987, they re-introduced Traditional Lager, which has become their flagship brand, usually just called "Lager." To put this beer in perspective, itís really not a "craft beer," nor is it intended to be. It uses adjunct and would fall in line with macro swill on the profile scale, checking in at 4.6 percent ABV, 142 calories and only around 13-15 IBUs. It IS, however, a far cry from typical domestic crap. Yuengling has a nice copper color, as they do throw a little caramalt in the mash. Thereís a hint of sweetness in the nose and a slight caramel aroma lingers as it rolls down the gullet. Surprisingly, it has pretty good body for an American lager. It finishes clean with only the faintest whiff of any hop content. It gives a sense of a classic European lager, but without the fuller mouthfeel or protein body of the continental 2-row malt. It actually reminds me a bit of the pre-takeover Strohís when it was caramelized in the direct fire kettle, but with a little more body. It does have flavor, however, and that is not the norm for the typical "big brewer" product. Regardless, this is a wonderful session brew for a large American brewery and a domestic lager, particularly in the cold longneck bottle on a warm summer day. Serving type: bottle

Amber, hazy. Medium body, moderate to assertive flavor, spritzy, low alcohol heat, long palate. Bitter, off-dry, Intensely hoppy, resiny, yeasty. Very interesting, a good surprize for a lager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copper pour. Sweet malts, corn on the nose. Taste is the same and pretty watery.

Out of all the domestic swillish beers, Yuengling is probably my favorite and most drinkable all around lager. Itís pretty affordable too (especially when on sale), so Iíll get it every now and then for economy beer....but mostly the porter or black and tan. This beer is just about average all-around, ok for lawnmower, beach, or day time party.

On tap. Tan with a thin head. Slight straw aroma, skunky taste. A step above other macros at its price, but certainly not to be confused with craft beer, whatever the brewers association says

Took a few sips to really develop taste. Quite light in taste, but nice enough. Lightly hopped, not bursting with flavour. Not strong on the nose either. Having said that, I would suggest this is a good session beer because itís light in alcohol and easy to drink.

(Thanks, Josh "StFun") Bottle. A- Malty, cereal, hay, caramel, slightly skunky. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Malty, cereal, grass, caramel, bready. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- I wanted this one not because of the high scores but because itís a stable of the East Coast and you canít get it even remotely close to Nebraska. Finally got the chance and was surprised with how not bad it actually was. It was actually alright. Not a lot of flavor but balanced.

Total crap. I was once told that I should try this cos the beer has history. It tastes like a poor macro lager. Even though it was in an ice cold glass, it still didnít mask how awful it tastes. Seriously. And itís available everywhere in Florida (as a high priced domestic!). No thanks!
