An iconic American lager famous for its rich amber color and medium-bodied flavor - with a roasted caramel malt for a subtle sweetness and a combination of cluster and cascade hops, this true original delivers a well-balanced taste with very distinct character.

Yuengling long existed as a regional brewer, but in 1987, they re-introduced Traditional Lager, which has become their flagship brand, usually just called "Lager." To put this beer in perspective, it’s really not a "craft beer," nor is it intended to be. It uses adjunct and would fall in line with macro swill on the profile scale, checking in at 4.6 percent ABV, 142 calories and only around 13-15 IBUs. It IS, however, a far cry from typical domestic crap. Yuengling has a nice copper color, as they do throw a little caramalt in the mash. There’s a hint of sweetness in the nose and a slight caramel aroma lingers as it rolls down the gullet. Surprisingly, it has pretty good body for an American lager. It finishes clean with only the faintest whiff of any hop content. It gives a sense of a classic European lager, but without the fuller mouthfeel or protein body of the continental 2-row malt. It actually reminds me a bit of the pre-takeover Stroh’s when it was caramelized in the direct fire kettle, but with a little more body. It does have flavor, however, and that is not the norm for the typical "big brewer" product. Regardless, this is a wonderful session brew for a large American brewery and a domestic lager, particularly in the cold longneck bottle on a warm summer day. Serving type: bottle

This is a wonderfully traditional beer. It is not meant to be the highest quality beer, but to be the reasonably priced blue collar beer. Much better on tap than in the bottle, however this is true for most beers. If I had my pick this is what I will usually go for. On another note, some of these reviews seem to be for the light version and not the original lager. The clear straw color is Yuengling light, not the lager. The lager pours a darker caramel color

En fin pilsner lidt som en clasic øl type. Fin smag uden for meget bitterhed.

After 8 hours of driving we finally arrived at the hotel and they had this on tap. Rating might be off because it is free.

Bottle (green) - Pours medium amber, white head. Aroma of malt, slightly skunky. Biscuit. Lightly hopped. Malt presence. More like an amber/Vienna.

0,33 bottle from a gas station. - Generic malty aroma, slightly spicy hops. It has a good, well balanced pilsner flavor, more malt than the rest of the american lagers. Good, but not as good as most european lagers.

Bottled. A pretty decent lager. Amber color with white lacing. Not too wheaty or malty. A good macro.

Wedding reception at Spring Manor winery. More malty than your traditional pale lager, closer to a Vienna. Amber body, sweet malt nose. Taste is more sweetness, possibly due to some adjuncts. Not horrible, but a bit cloying.

Draught at Jet Rock Bar and Grill in Terminal B of PHL. Clear copper with white head that is pristine and leaves full lacing. Crisp malt and harsh bitter finish.

It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: It has a bright yellow colored body with very good clarity and visible carbonation rushing up to bright white head. The head is light and soapy. It quickly settled down to a wispy thin film covering. Smell: The aroma is light and cereal like with a faint floral hops in the background. Taste / Palate: The flavor is light and clean. It’s has cereal and light grain like notes with a light floral and grassy hay like hops. It feels light and refreshing with balanced carbonation.
