Crisp and clean, pure and natural, Chilkoot Lager is everything you want in a lager. Light and effervescent, without that nasty chemical tang, Chilkoot Lager goes down smooth and easy.

Slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a creamy white head. Spicy and fruity aroma with strawberry and cherry being the most obvious. Good malt profile and fruity tasting. Medium bodied with a finish that is very crisp and clean. A big surprise since it claims to be competing with macro stuff, but it is clearly superior.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2005 Oct 2005 Can. Very pale yellow with a decent fluffy white head. Sweet mildly fruity aroma. Fairly clean, touch of fruit - citrus??? Mild restrained malt. Average palate. Surprisingly quaffable and pleasant. 5/3/5/3/12 <P> Mondiale June 2004 Bottle. Pale golden yellow. Funky aroma, bland slightly fruity emptiness. To be fair, I didn’t spend much time with this one, but at the time I didn’t think it merited it. Not unpleasant but dull. Mondiale 3T (Tiggmtl). 5/3/4/3/10

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2012 This used to be a standard non-swill lager I would keep on hand for my non-adventursome beer friends. I just had it this past weekend at Rockley’s 40th. It was a shadow of the lager I once knew. Gone are the lovely fruit nuances and tasty cookie malts. This was a grainy, slightly sweet, barely hopped, nearly characterless lager. I could find no BBD on the label, so maybe it was an old bottle (I tried a second, same thing). My older ratings showed different impressions at different times. I wonder if freshness is to blame, or if brewer consistency is at fault? I would need to try this fresh, at the brewery, on tap to be certain. One ticket to Whitehorse please...

Bottle [341ml]. Pours a clear pale gold with a small diminishing frothy white head. Mild aroma of tropical fruit, caramel malt, honey and some breadiness. Nice, for the style, flavour of caramel malt, light spice, honey, tropical fruit and very light hops. Average to medium bodied. A decent Lager, it’s O.K. -- Rated via Beer Buddy.

A contract brew for Madd Hatters in Grande Prairie. Pootz entered it as a Bohemian Pilsener but it seems more like a generic american wheat. Trace of lemon and some biscuit flavour. Sour zesty aroma.

Almost clear. LIght ginger ale-like colour. Large quickly disapearing head. Almost odourless. Almost tasteless, a little sweetness but not much else. Disapointing from Chilkoot. Guess even the Yukon needs thier own version of a macro. Does go down smooth and easy but thoughts about yellow snow make want a porter next!

(Bottle) Mondial de la Bičre 2004. No bubbles? Its the small things I look forward to in a beer - what a stunning disappointment off the bat. Gold with a thin, white head. Nose is lactic. Milky and boring.
