Deadman Creek is an unusual name, we know! Of course, cranberries in beer is a little odd too and being different is what we’re really all about. With an explosion of lime lagers now out on the market, the big boys have proved what we’ve been saying all along “flavour is good!” We take an already damn fine wheat ale and add cranberries during fermentation. Then, with lots of tangy yeast flavour interacting with the tart cranberries we choose to leave it unfiltered and then put it in bottles or kegs for your enjoyment. We decided early in the year that such a unique beer deserved some cool packaging so we tracked down former Yukoner turned Northern BC’er Meghan Hildebrand to create  the stunning piece featured above. To our surprise Meghan told us this was her favorite beer and she was pumped about the name we had picked. Deadman Creek, an actual creek found in the remote backcountry of the Yukon is an ode to the crazy spirits that built the north and were adventurous enough to settle this frontier. So Deadman Creek, Cranberry Wheat is hitting the shelves now and we suggest you grab a Deadman!

Hazy yellow gold colour with thin white head. Mild yeast nose. Mild fruity malt taste with mild fruity finish.

Hazy amber orange, thin head that disappears pretty quickly. Faint wet-hair aroma, no real fruit aroma though. Modestly malty palate, a little bready, with the faintest hint of berry fruit. More tart than flavourful. Not bad, but the other brews put out by tis excellent company are better.

Hazy amber colour with minimal head. Aroma was slightly wheaty and artificial cranberry. A tad of fruit but otherwise pretty thin. Slightly sticky at the end.

Hazy gold, white head.Light cranberry nose.Rather bland, with just a hint of fruit, which you couldn’t detect as cranberries

Butt-ugly murky dun colour. Instantly dissipating head. Slightly phenolic aroma with light hints of fruit. Tart body, thin, with dusty yeastiness. Not a whole lot going on, sadly.

Bottle. Add Yukon to the effort. Hazy light amber appearance, sickly head. While there are faint cranberries & wheat, I think they used this name over "saccarine and wet cardboard" primarily for marketing reasons.

Hazy golden amber color. Thick white head, tart nose of cranberries and wheat. Malty mouth, slightly tart, that continues with the cranberries and wheat theme. Dry finish. Not one of thier better beers.

Pours with a medium head, the first thing that you note is how cloudy the light copper beer is. The taste is tart, the cranberries are not added for fruit taste, just for tartness, and it is successful. This is my favorite from the Yukon Brewing Company. Very fresh, and something that would be great on a warm summer day.

Pours with a nice lasting head and a solid gold colour. Strong carbonation. Scent is sweet and perhaps sugary. I expected somehing a little more sour and fruity with a yeast presence. Decent body. Sourness in the flavour but not overpowering. This beer calls for a patio after a session with a lawnmower. The sweetness does detract as the glass empties. The wheat characteristics do not appear.

aroma is slight malty with light cherry-like aroma. Pours a flat, slightly hazy gold, quickly disappearing head. Flavour is mild cherry/cranberry with a pronounced sour finish. Not the greatest beer, but mildly refreshing. Its a fruit beer - how good could it be?
