COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark chocolate appearance is reminiscent of a porter, and the slightly darkened creamy head tops the look. But the first sip lets you know that this beer can be drank, in quantity if desired (or required?), without leading to an overly full gullet. Intricate malt flavors predominate, with a medium mouth-feel and a very light bitter.

From my haul down from Whitehorse earlier this month. This one was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a black color with a slim glazing of an off white foamy and bubbly head that dissipated rather quickly. Light speckled lacing ran all around my glass. The smell was a bit roasty, a little bit of rich caramel coated nuts and a light running bitter coffee all combine to enliven my nose, definitely English by nature. The taste was roasty and sweet through the nuts and caramel backed up by the bitter coffee to balance. Light chocolate came in as well. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body as I found myself sipping this. The carbonation was there but nothing overbearing. A nice bitter invasiveness rolls over my tongue. Overall, I really liked this beer and am glad to have another one going into winter.

Another nice offering from these guys. Nose is too dominated by grain, makes it kind of hard to pick out other aromas (faint caramel and spice, a bit of toasted bread) Taste is really nice though. Caramel, toasted grain, hazelnuts, a bit of chocolate and treacle. Sweet overall, with a bit of alcohol warmth, but there’s a subtle lingering dryness on the finish too. Wish these guys were bigger hop fans but their malt profiles are solid.

Brown color with medium sized head. Immediate aroma of caramel, dark bread, some spices, dust. Good body strength; the mouthfeel is rather dry; the flavor focuses on the dark caramel, followed by a light spicy touch, rye bread, dust; ending with moderate to strong bitterness and light astringency.
Nothing special, but could be ok with food.

A clear brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a smooth and powdery chocolate malt with nutty notes, and a touch of licorice. In mouth, a nice sweet nutty malt with chocolate notes, roasted notes, a bit peaty. Nice. Shared with GRM. Merci Sylvain.

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Milk chocolate brown colour. Odd duck this one. Very English tasting, malty and complex. One could probably taste whatever one wanted somewhere in there. Overall, it works reasonably well and is worth a try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark ruby-brown, mild spidering. Aroma is malt, bitter, and sour. Taste is round simple dark ale with a bitter background. The taste is actually quite good, but the sourness in the aroma turns me off. It might be dirty lines, it might be a slightly off batch, but it is what it is.

I’ve tried this as both ’Yukon Lead Dog Ale’ and ’Chilkoot Lead Dog Ale’. Either way it’s not the world’s greatest ale. The beer appears to be brownish red, with a thin creamy head. The flavour is very disappointing. A weak watery flavour, with some sweet fruity tones.

Bottle @ Calgary Beer Fest. Pours clear brown with a medium, fizzy tan head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is caramel, nutty and toast malt, dates and figs with earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant, light hops and bitterness with dark fruits and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
