Pours a very dark reddish brown with a light tan head. Has a sweet bready aroma, a little cherry, some caramel, surprisingly complex. Unfortunately the flavor seems a little bland, a light uninteresting sweetness. Palate seems slighty thin as well.

Frothy head on a dark ruby beer. Porter-like malt nose. Complex malt. Stout-like. Swear there is a light cherry taste in the finish. Hints of chocolate. Is this the stout without the Espresso? Toasty and tasty. A nice winter warmer.

12 oz. bottle brought back to AZ by my mother-in-law - Pours a brown color with a nice light tan head. Light lacing. Has a very light roasted malt aroma. Has a nice roasted chocolate flavor. Medium body. Seems more like a Porter than an English Strong. A good beer. Thanks Ma V.

Hazelnut brown colour. Nutty, chocolatey aroma. The flavour is moderate for a strong ale, and certainly I’d hope for bigger if I wanted to survive a Yukon winter. It’s a little chocolatey, with hints of nuts and light coffee notes.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Malty, fruity caramel aroma with notes of chocolate and roasty dark malts. Clear dark amber-brown with decent tan head that recedes to cover. Bittersweet chocolate malt flavours with a decent balancing bitterness. Some alcohol noticeable in the finish. Body perhaps a touch on the thin side for a winter warmer but very enjoyable. Bottle. Thanks, JoeMcPhee.

Thanks for the bottle JoeMcphee. Poured a very dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is very roasty. The flavour is initially roasted malt followed by a nice sweetness and just a hint of bitterness on the finish. Very enjoyable.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark copper beer with a huge head with good retention. Aroma is quite malty with some noticeable roastiness. Taste is very interesting with some notes of roastiness coming in at first and ending with a balanced bitterness. No too complex beer overall, but a good example of the style.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
In bottle at the Mondial de la Bière 2004: Dark copper brown color with a dense light tan head. Sweet bready caramel aroma has a touch of hoppy bitterness. Full, thick malty body has a nice hopped balance, sweet toffee and lightly roasted malt flavor, and a smooth finish. A very nice beer and from the Yukon of all places!

Creamy head, thick. Dark brown chocolate malt is dominant, woody feel. This ale was full bodied, clean with nice good depth. Alcohol was well blended, supported well coffee like finish. Very pleasant dark ale.
