3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Frothy head on a dark ruby beer. Porter-like malt nose. Complex malt. Stout-like. Swear there is a light cherry taste in the finish. Hints of chocolate. Is this the stout without the Espresso? Toasty and tasty. A nice winter warmer.

341ml bottle pours dark brown in color with a creamy off-white head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by roasted malts. Taste is roasted malty bitterness with some malty sweetness as well finishing with a light hoppy bitterness. Medium body and nice carbonation leave a pleasing mouthfeel. This is my favorite from this brewery.

Thanks to zzbrrt. Pours a lightly hazy ruby amber with a small bubbly off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, iced tea, leathery, caramel, tobacco, nuts and some cardboard. Flavor of tea, tobacco, caramel, nuts, dark fruits, some toffee and toasted malts.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Malty, fruity caramel aroma with notes of chocolate and roasty dark malts. Clear dark amber-brown with decent tan head that recedes to cover. Bittersweet chocolate malt flavours with a decent balancing bitterness. Some alcohol noticeable in the finish. Body perhaps a touch on the thin side for a winter warmer but very enjoyable. Bottle. Thanks, JoeMcPhee.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle@Fiddle River, Jasper, Canada. Reddish brownish black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is lightly malty, and the flavour is malty with some molasses and vinous notes. Overall a pretty average ale, but I've had a beer from the Yukon. Well pleased with that.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This rich dark brew offers up notes of toffee, dark fruit, dark chocolate and butterscotch. It is perhaps a bit hoppier than what one might expect for the style . For 7% it also drinks bigger with a warming finish. I could see this being an excellent beer for those cold Artic nights.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Ruby brown pour, clear, minor ring head. Nutty, vegetal, eggplant and tree bark aroma. Medium body, fine carbonation. Malt character is closer to that of a dunkel than an ESB. Yeast displays a mild spiciness at the finish, not much other character.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle from the brewery. Originally reviewed for Winter/08 issue of TAPS Magazine.) As a dog lover with an especially strong affinity for huskies, the label alone was enough to hook me on this beer. Luckily, the stuff on the inside of the bottle is pretty good as well. Mahogany-brown in colour with a large mocha head, it has a complex and appealing aroma of dry cocoa, dark malt, treacle and anise. The flavour follows with the same notes as the aroma off the top, combined with some dried dark fruit, followed by a hint of smoke and a nicely layered hoppiness that builds in the finish. They call it an English Strong Ale, but to me it brings to mind a robust and warming Porter. Whatever you choose to call it, it’s a fantastic winter treat.
