COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark chocolate appearance is reminiscent of a porter, and the slightly darkened creamy head tops the look. But the first sip lets you know that this beer can be drank, in quantity if desired (or required?), without leading to an overly full gullet. Intricate malt flavors predominate, with a medium mouth-feel and a very light bitter.

A gift from Sammy. Black in the pour with excellent lacing. Looked more like a stout and tasted nutty. A very nice warming drink.

Bottled sample. Coffee nose with hints of toffee. Dark black hue with small and quickly dissipating head. Very malty flavour with coffee and notes of toffee and maybe nuts. Syrups texture with some sweetness in the finish. Superb.

Dark ruby-brown, mild spidering. Aroma is malt, bitter, and sour. Taste is round simple dark ale with a bitter background. The taste is actually quite good, but the sourness in the aroma turns me off. It might be dirty lines, it might be a slightly off batch, but it is what it is.

An excellent strong ale. Kind of a chocholate colour, with a light brown head... tastes of caramel and malt... very smooth falvour... Yukon’s best one yet!

Bottle. Translucent cola colored ale with minimal ring around glass. Fruity (raisin, plum) aroma. Medium body. Taste is slightly fruity, with trace of roast malt. Carbonation is mellow but persistent. Alcohol taste is well masked.

Thanks for the bottle JoeMcphee. Poured a very dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is very roasty. The flavour is initially roasted malt followed by a nice sweetness and just a hint of bitterness on the finish. Very enjoyable.

Dark brown pour with thin head. Some roasted malt aromas. Malt and slightly bitter finish. Nice mouthfeel for this medium bodied beer.

Another nice offering from these guys. Nose is too dominated by grain, makes it kind of hard to pick out other aromas (faint caramel and spice, a bit of toasted bread) Taste is really nice though. Caramel, toasted grain, hazelnuts, a bit of chocolate and treacle. Sweet overall, with a bit of alcohol warmth, but there’s a subtle lingering dryness on the finish too. Wish these guys were bigger hop fans but their malt profiles are solid.

I’ve tried this as both ’Yukon Lead Dog Ale’ and ’Chilkoot Lead Dog Ale’. Either way it’s not the world’s greatest ale. The beer appears to be brownish red, with a thin creamy head. The flavour is very disappointing. A weak watery flavour, with some sweet fruity tones.

Poured from the bottle in Whitehorse, YT. Creamy, tan head and deep, chocolate appearance, reminiscent of a porter perhaps. Subtle aroma of malt and chocolate with a medium body and heavier malt notes throughout. Lively carbonation with a smooth finish make this an easy drinking beer, probably my favourite of Yukon Brewery’s offerings thus far.
