The dark chocolate appearance is reminiscent of a porter, and the slightly darkened creamy head tops the look. But the first sip lets you know that this beer can be drank, in quantity if desired (or required?), without leading to an overly full gullet. Intricate malt flavors predominate, with a medium mouth-feel and a very light bitter.

Bottle from my brother in-law. Pours a deep dark as you can go copper, but more on a cola side with copper hues, almost no head or lacing. Nose is sweet caramel malt. Tastes very malty, slight bitterness. Biscuity, caramel, a bit of toffee.

Pours a very dark reddish brown with a light tan head. Has a sweet bready aroma, a little cherry, some caramel, surprisingly complex. Unfortunately the flavor seems a little bland, a light uninteresting sweetness. Palate seems slighty thin as well.

Nice one from Yukon! Not normally a fan of Porters but this one was different enough to be enjoyable. Had a nice roasted malt flavour with a smooth drinkability.

Dark reddish brown. Tall tall bubbles. Aroma is nuts, chicory, toffee, cereal. Taste comes through really malty, quite sweet. Itís a malt-bomb this. Borders on cloying territory, particularly as it warms. Some balancing bitterness, but not enough.

A gift from Sammy. Black in the pour with excellent lacing. Looked more like a stout and tasted nutty. A very nice warming drink.

Bottled sample. Coffee nose with hints of toffee. Dark black hue with small and quickly dissipating head. Very malty flavour with coffee and notes of toffee and maybe nuts. Syrups texture with some sweetness in the finish. Superb.

Another nice offering from these guys. Nose is too dominated by grain, makes it kind of hard to pick out other aromas (faint caramel and spice, a bit of toasted bread) Taste is really nice though. Caramel, toasted grain, hazelnuts, a bit of chocolate and treacle. Sweet overall, with a bit of alcohol warmth, but thereís a subtle lingering dryness on the finish too. Wish these guys were bigger hop fans but their malt profiles are solid.

Pours dark like coca-cola, minor head with hardly any lacing. Itís heavy on the malt with nice toasted cereals and coffee. Itís a warmer but goes down nicely. Another excellent brew from up north.

Dark ruby-brown, mild spidering. Aroma is malt, bitter, and sour. Taste is round simple dark ale with a bitter background. The taste is actually quite good, but the sourness in the aroma turns me off. It might be dirty lines, it might be a slightly off batch, but it is what it is.
