Hearty northern people love a hearty stout beer. We’ve teamed up wtih Yukon’s famous Midnight Sun Coffee Roaster to create this special blend. Originally developed for "Bean Queen" Zola Dore in a small batch kettle system by Yukoner Mitt Stehelin, we’ve retained the artisan qualities of this unique, unfiltered brew. The robust taste of this hearty stout starts with the smooth glide of real espresso and finishes with a dry chocolatey malt flavour. Why the big bottle? You’ll love it so much, you’ll want to share it with a friend, or not!

Bouteille 1L. [notes 2005]

Poured cold from the bottle into a tall glass, modest beige head and good black copper body. Really good layered aromas of coffee, chocolate, burnt oak. Okay espresso flavours with roasted barley notes. Not enough oomph on the mouthfeel but just okay. Really good and up there for sure.

When it is good, it is very good. But as I have lived up there where it is brewed, I have found it inconsistantly carbonated, and sometimes lacking the rich Midnight Sun Coffee aroma when it is a really good batch. When it is good, it is amazing, but I cannot depend on it after 5 plus years, so I do not buy it to share with friends. What a shame.

Bottle. Dark, nearly black pour with a tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate and roasty coffee, like a creamy mocha. Flavour is pretty roasty, plenty of chocolate with a nice bitter coffee. One of the better coffee stouts I've tried, especially for the ABV. Nice surprise!

Bottle from brewery. Aroma of coffee and malt is mild but the flavour is more pronounced when drinking.

Black stuff with a beige head that soon ends up in a thin layer. Rich cold coffee ale. Espresso and grassy. Medium + body and a pleasant carbonation. Tad sweet and an ok bitterness. Oily texture. Ok tasty stout. Maybe a bit to one dimensional.

Deep brown and clear. Aroma is coffee and roast malt. Caramel and bitter coffee, not really a dark espresso but a decent flavour. I’m sure I’ve had this but I don’t remember.

Bottle. A dark brown beer with a small, dense, dark beige head. Mostly clear. The aroma has a lovely mocha scent at first, but after a while I’m not really sure how nice it is. There’s some vegetal hints in the back, there’s roasted malts and dark chocolate, but it’s mocha that dominates. It’s a bit thin on the palate, it’s soft and smooth and semi-dry. Mocha, dark chocolate and a little roasted kind of bitterness in the flavor, all lasting for a good while. Overall, a fine brew, but it’s a bit ordinary and it lacks body. Drinks easy though. 150613

Pours dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of light roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long coffee, caramel and chocolate finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Pours a murky dark brown/black with a large creamy tan head. Aromas of earthy espresso and roasted malt. Tastes of sweet espresso with caramel malt, chocolate and a light hoppy finish. Thin to medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel.
