Commercial Description:
Hearty northern people love a hearty stout beer. We've teamed up wtih Yukon's famous Midnight Sun Coffee Roaster to create this special blend. Originally developed for "Bean Queen" Zola Dore in a small batch kettle system by Yukoner Mitt Stehelin, we've retained the artisan qualities of this unique, unfiltered brew. The robust taste of this hearty stout starts with the smooth glide of real espresso and finishes with a dry chocolatey malt flavour. Why the big bottle? You'll love it so much, you'll want to share it with a friend, or not!

1L bottle. Black with a thin beige head. Aroma of roasted barley, chocolate malt, chocolate, coffee, vanilla and toffee. Taste is pretty much the same, really taste the raw roasted barley and chocolate malt in this one. The finish is a little watery. A really good sweet stout.

Bottled @ Sk8vikings blind porter/stout tasting. Beer no. 9: Pitch black. Dense light brown head. Sweetness, coffee, light smoke and light fruits in the aroma. Flavour is quite grassy and roasty. Has cocoa and coffee notes. Light spices are notable. Smooth and mild body. Is light bitter in the end.

Tasted blind at Sk8vikings amazing Porter/Stout tasting - Black body, big creamy head, laces; Big nose, but quite 1-dimensional, lot of coffee, small red berries, dark roasted coffee beans (African), grassy, very little dark brown sugar; Huge soft carbonation in a soft balanced neutral body; Into very long but very neutral, and a bit thin finish, a lot of milky chocolate, some cold coffee. I don’t think this beer has a lot of character, but a great ++ for it changing through the single mouthful as well as the glass of beer I had.

(Blind rating at sk8viking’s.) Pours black with an off-white foamy head. Smells of ash. Slightly sou with aromas of burnt malts, coffee and ash, again. Light bodied. Sour ash-like finish. I think I accidentally glued the label from this bottle on to Rene’s table. I hope he gets it off... sorry.

A black beer with a brown shine when held against a light soiurce, underneath a nice brown head. The aroma is strong with notes of cappuchino, but notes of black coffee and vanilla mixes in. The flavor is primarily of black coffee and cappuchino, with a light roasted note, over a thin body. Somewhat boring - had expected more.
