Black coloured with a beige head.
Roasted aroma of coffee with notes of liquorice.
Flavour of coffee with roasted notes. sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Jun 4, 2006 Updated: Jun 6, 2006(Blind rating at sk8viking’s.) Pours black with an off-white foamy head. Smells of ash. Slightly sou with aromas of burnt malts, coffee and ash, again. Light bodied. Sour ash-like finish. I think I accidentally glued the label from this bottle on to Rene’s table. I hope he gets it off... sorry. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 4, 2006 A black beer with a brown shine when held against a light soiurce, underneath a nice brown head. The aroma is strong with notes of cappuchino, but notes of black coffee and vanilla mixes in. The flavor is primarily of black coffee and cappuchino, with a light roasted note, over a thin body. Somewhat boring - had expected more. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 3, 2006 (Bottle 100 cl) Completely black and opaque with a creamy, beige head leaving some laces. The aroma is of pure ash. Rather soft mouthfeel. Medium body with lightly sweet malt and very burned notes - this is very ashy, a feature I don’t really appreciate in my beer. Discreet, bitter finish. Thanks to presario for this. 020606 Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 5, 2006 Updated: Mar 5, 2008Typical stout black body but with a disappointingly small off-white head. As expected with “expresso” in the name the focus is on the roasted coffee beans & roasted malt flavours. Not a whole lot of chocolate in there. Although officially a Sweet Stout the beer didn’t feel very sweet. If anything I’d even say it was below-average sweet for a stout. Medium body with dominant roasted coffee beans flavours. Simple but very effective and I loved the big flip-top 1L bottle. Only in Yukon can a beer be named Midnight Sun without it being an oxymoron. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Mar 12, 2006 Bitter coffee aroma, with cherry, vanilla. Flavor is slightly sweet, with a bit of coffee, with a moderately bitter finish.
blankboy (3157), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 10, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & Dave B. -- courtesy of Presario. Pours a murky dark brown, almost black, with a large lasting creamy tan head. Big earthy aroma of espresso and roasted malt -- very nice. Somewhat sweet flavour, predominently of espresso along with caramel malt, chocolate and a light hoppy finish -- perhaps a little watery. Thin to medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. A pretty good Stout in a cool bottle.
