| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2005 Not much light found its way through the deep brownish-black pour which held a medium tan head above it for a little while. Fairly light lacing. Strong aromas of coffee, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, hops and a little caramel. Heavy influence of roasted malt and espresso in the flavor but even those strong flavors allowed some balancing from notes of vanilla, toffee, plums and hops. Mouthfeel not as hearty as I had hoped but it was still very silky and the finish was sweet, long and surprisingly refreshing. This certainly isn’t a beer for everyone but it really isn’t just a beer for coffee lovers either. I poured this one along with a few other heavyweights in a flight of "Dark Angels" during a beer tasting and it held up quite well. If you’re lucky enough to have access to a bottle of this, grab it. legion242 (1577), Richardson, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2005 Black, black, black. Fluffy khaki head. Nice nose. The pallatte is the weak link here- I kinda wanted a little more body. Otherwise, a fine coffee stout indeed!! lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2005 Warm black colored beer with a fluffy, creamy intens brown beige head. The nose has outspoken hints of fresh tobacco leafs, scorsaneras slightly coloured is fresh butter, Hasselts coffee liquor, fresh torrefactored coffee beans and the freshly grilled top of a crèma Cattalana. This beer has the smoothest soft burned caracter i’v ever had in a stout. There are also hints of the famous Belgian Tréfin coffee candies, doubble cream and the taste leaves a faint mineraly saltyness in the afthertaste, is it the water thy used?
It is not the most powerfull stout but a very well balanced and a tasty one. Joris thanks for this very smooth black one. JorisPPattyn (5167), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Night-black; cream-brown head, fluffy leaving some lace. Pure cigar ashes in the nose, aucuba leaves, or even tobacco leaves. Moccha, creamy, dry - and real ashes taste. Sweet and roasted flavours, like some exotic BBQ. Lots of scorched sugars, but not overly coffee, which might have spoiled the fun for me. Creamy MF, not overly scorched, dry-ish and not unlike moccha coffee with cream, all the way. Very smooth stout, sweet but not overpowering in any direction. What’s the big deal? It’s OK, I like it, but nothing more. Thanks for hauling this enormous flip-top bottle over, Mike. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

Belle surprise, goût de moka, belle mousse présente, l’alcool bien que présent se cache bien. Plus chocolat-café qu’autre chose une bonne stout pour convertir les buveurs de bière blonde/café au bières noires.
