Deep brown hue with a small beige head and good lacing. The aroma has notes of espresso, mocha, grassy and citric hops, bready and a bit earthy esters also. The taste is pure milk chocolate at the start but quickly the espresso bitterness finds it’s way to the palate. I also get some light blackberry and currant, spice, and smoke to add complexity to this sweet breakfast stout. Could use some more body (aka oatmeal). A good brew and solid across the board. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA

Coffee, coffee, coffee, dark chocolate, coffee, a tad more chocolate and some hops at the finish with a hint of sweetness to round it all out. Well melded together to help it veer from the unidimensional. Nice. Thanks to presario dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

I think that we all had really high expectations for this, but we were dissapointed.
The overwelming taste is coffee. My brother thinks that it tastes like day old gas station coffee. I am willing to give it just the taste of a strong coffee bean; it doesn’t help that we all have super fond memories of the Jasper Brewing Company’s Espresso Stout. In comparision, this beer isn’t nearly as smooth, the flavors are not well balanced, and a rather mediocre malted barley was clearly used. The head had rather large bubbles, rather than a creamy head that the best espresso stouts have. Other tastes are peanuts and honey....why are all the beers from this brewery too sweet?!?!?!?!? "Dry?", you’re kidding, right?
Disapointing, but maybe because of all of the previous high ratings. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA

Like mds said, this wasnt cheap and wasnt particularly worth the $6 CAD for a small sample, IMHO. Opaque brown-ruby color. A tan head is very bubbly and recedes rapidly to nothing, making me wonder how thick this stuff is. There is great lacing on the glass though. Coffee, honey, graham crackers, mocha in the nose, quite complex and inviting, though not particularly overwhelming with strength. Flavor starts out with bitter roast, vanilla, peanuts and dark chocolate. Light barley grains on the texture, a bit like sticky honey as well. Lightens up in body a good deal on the end, though I wouldnt call it watery, exactly. A mocha finish and light oily roast notes linger. Very drinkable for a medium strength coffee stout. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pitch black with a rocky mocha head. beautiful roasty nose with huge notes of bittersweet chocolate along with hints of smokiness. sweet start with light smoke notes and heaves of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Sweet throughout and finish is chocolatey. It’s a tasty stout and cool to know that there is something interesting being brewed out in the vast north of Canada but I wonder how much this costs there as $6 for a small sample is pretty steep. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 6, 2005 Opaque black body topped with a lasting light brown frothy head. Nice malty aroma with notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Taste is a bit more robust than the aroma lets us expect. It ends with a long roasty finish. Pretty good stuff.
