COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hearty northern people love a hearty stout beer. We've teamed up wtih Yukon's famous Midnight Sun Coffee Roaster to create this special blend. Originally developed for "Bean Queen" Zola Dore in a small batch kettle system by Yukoner Mitt Stehelin, we've retained the artisan qualities of this unique, unfiltered brew. The robust taste of this hearty stout starts with the smooth glide of real espresso and finishes with a dry chocolatey malt flavour. Why the big bottle? You'll love it so much, you'll want to share it with a friend, or not!

Deep black, with good head. Roasted malt, coffee and notes of dark chocolate in the great aroma. The carbonation is a little too sharp, but otherwise a very nice stout.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2006 Dry, roasted coffee beans juggle with ashes and fruity hops…Thin, fizzy carbonation lessens what could have been a near-decadent stout and offers but feeble, sometimes vegetal, coffee malt backbone…A good stout, but it needs a lot more work to reach excellence…

Deep black color with a thin than head. Great aroma of expresso and roasted malt. Amazing flavor of expresso and roasted malt, nice balance between those two. Bitter finish but not harsh. Light to medium body, good carbonation. Wow, what a great beer, assertive but well balanced, very enjoyable.

Dark beer with a big foamy brown head when poured out of the big flip top bottle. Huge espresso bean nose. This is a very nice coffee beer. Lots of sweetened coffee flavors with hints of chocolate and some green hops. The finish is long and is like eating roasted coffee beans. Very smooth beer and a relatively light body. I really liked this beer. Thanks to Presario for the chance to try this.

Dark brown to black in color. Overwelming amount of coffee in the aroma and some chocolate. Flavor is a bit acidic. Medium bodied. Finish was acidic mostly with a touch of sweetness. I had good company while drinking it. Thanks MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere.

Black. Thin off-white head swiftly becomes a ring. Coffeeish aroma is obvious, espresso reminiscent, chocolatey, roasty. Pretty appealing, but not too complex. Slight tart touch. Dry palate with loads of coffee and chocolate, but quite uni-dimensional. Light bitter finish. Lively carbonation, thin-medium body.

Burnt wood, coffee and roasted malt in the nose. Opaque black with thin tan head that recedes to lightly cover. Fairly acidic and extremely roasty, this beer is perhaps overly bitter, yet still very enjoyable. Lasting impression of sweetness. Dry and a bit thin but pleasant in the mouth. Bottle. Enjoyed with hopsrus, MartinT and Rastacouere. Thanks Presario.

(1 litre swing-top bottle) Pours a large brown, frothy head and an opaque body. Coffee nose gives in to a tinny odour. Very sweet with a nicely balanced coffee flavour. Smooth vanilla is thrown into the fold when it crosses the palate into the finish. Very impressed! Thanks to Mark’s northern friend for this scarce find.

1L swing top bottle. Heavy Coffee scents dominate the aroma. Poured dark brown, almost black. Brown head. Lots of chocolate malt in taste, but I didn’t think the coffee dominated like others noticed. It is certainly there though, but a decent balance achieved (perhaps more successful than Mill St.’s recent solid outing in this style). Slightly bitter finish – I was glad to see some hops pop through. Overall, good solid body – maybe just a little thin, but only a little. Good carbonation and surprisingly very easy to drink – one of the few coffee porters I’ve tried that could be considered a session ale. It’s funny – I don’t like coffee other than the smell but I’m becoming a big fan of this style. Thanks Presario.

I am not a big fan of the style, but have to rate it according to its style and its possibly the best of this style I have had. A good-looking 1 litre stout. Good session ale. Only criticism: not a lot of different tastes and a bit aggressive on carbonation. WOnderful milky capuccino expresso flavour like a top expresso. And nuts! Little beer taste. High caffeine overwhelms the alcohol.
