dmac (1414), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jul 16, 2009 Bottle shared at the UFC 100 gathering. Poured a deep dark brownish/black with a bubbly foamy beige head. Aroma was very roasty with notes of chocolate and espresso. The roastiness follows through into the flavor with espresso and coffee grounds making up the main part of the flavor. The body is rather thin fo a stout but hey they all can’t be 10W-30. This was really nice and a good brew and I’m glad I had it before the CCB CEM stout or else this one would have rated far less. egajdzis (3594), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2009 Poured a dark brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, light espresso, nuts, cocoa, and a bit of smoke. Taste of roasted malts, chestnuts, bitter, burnt wood, and a dry finish. sebletitje (1874), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 6, 2009 courtesy of tpd975
pours black, light beige head.
aroma of strong roasted coffee malts, hints of chocolate.
taste, coffee, malts. The espresso is just all over the place and in a good way. It is note overly coffeish, meaning that the finish is lightly bitter.
Simple stout, very coffee oriented, drinkable but one bottle should be enough. JMFG (1513), Florida, USA Jul 3, 2009 Courtesy SoLan. Dark brown pour, nearly black, sparse loose light tan head. Slightly bitter, mostly roasty aroma, mild chocolate background. Mild, almost bland taste for an espresso stout, light coffee notes and light roast. OliverG (83), montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 2, 2009 Noire foncée, cette stout offre uniquement des flaveurs de café. Se boit quand même facilement pour une bière de type café (ce qui est loin d’être mon genre préféré). GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 25, 2009 Thanks to JMFG and SoLan for enjoying this brew with me during a kung-fu cipher in the hood. Pretty standard coffee stout with a nice coffee aroma and flavor with roasted nuts and cocoa. TheJester (692), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 9, 2009 341 mL bottle. Pretty much black, with a solid beige head. Lots of espresso in the aroma, along with old campfire and a little black licorice. Flavour is not as big as the aroma. It’s sweeter than expected, with chocolate milk, cappuchino, and toffee. Some roast bitterness in the finish. Body is surprisingly thin. I’ll try this one again. Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 Yummy!! Just as good as I remembered. Beer poured black with a dark brown head. The thing that threw me off about this beer is it had a very dirt like smell, high quality dirt mind you none of that normal garden stuff but high quality compost. There was also a strong coffee smell but that wasn’t unexpected. On to the first sweg........ holy silky smooth Batman, this stuff is thick and creamy very soft feeling, it feels like my mouth has been upholstered in velvet. The taste hits you with a double barel blast of coffee and I’m detecting a strawberry cream in the back ground (Beerchronic disagrees with me) very full flavor. Me likes this beer a lot.
