Hearty northern people love a hearty stout beer. We’ve teamed up wtih Yukon’s famous Midnight Sun Coffee Roaster to create this special blend. Originally developed for "Bean Queen" Zola Dore in a small batch kettle system by Yukoner Mitt Stehelin, we’ve retained the artisan qualities of this unique, unfiltered brew. The robust taste of this hearty stout starts with the smooth glide of real espresso and finishes with a dry chocolatey malt flavour. Why the big bottle? You’ll love it so much, you’ll want to share it with a friend, or not!

341ml bottle, best before December 2013 (how old can this be?). Pour is pitch black with a good cover of moka colored foam. Good lacing. Aroma is just like walking into a coffee shop but also bordering on ash (though it is not ashy so all is well). It is quite potent though, with both roasted and unroasted beans aromas. Taste is sweet with again these strong (pleasant) coffee notes crushing the chocolatey background. No roasted malt acidity (good!). Body is full, carbonation low to medium. Mouthfeel is somehow silky, smooth. Overall a really nice coffee stout, not without its rough edges but still highly enjoyable.

341. ml. bottle. Bought over from tderoeck. Split by 2. At least 6+ months of age but easily more. Pours black with basically no mocha head. Nose is roasted, clear roasted espresso and coffee in the nose, roasted malts but slightly covered / coupled with a simple sweetness with light molasses. Taste is bitter roast, roasted coffee and espresso leading into simple molasses and chocolate sweetness with some cocoa and cold coffee. Little carb. & not too heavy body. Certainly enjoyable but very simple and bit basic. I have had certainly better and this could have had something more but still nice.

Noire opaque. Collet beige. Nez de café. Chocolat. Vanille. Semble sucré. Bouche: effectivement sucré. Toast brûlé. Grain rôti. Vrai Café perceptible. Chocolat. Mochaccino. Vanille. Crémeuse. Très bien, je serais curieux d'en voir une version impériale.

Aged a bit too long but still a fine stout. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and espresso beans in the aroma and taste, though thenespresso is more prominent in the aroma. Thick body, small head. Jet black.

I really enjoyed this. Good malt back bone that the espresso blends very nicely with. A good stout that I would enjoy again.

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Dark body, actually managed a little sand coloured head in the tiny sample mug. Smells and tastes like dark chocolate and espresso. The coffee flavour is clearly espresso, dark and roasty, rather than simply regular coffee. Definitely the pick of the litter from Yukon, one of the first to run out at the Bash. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

cocoa powder, but mainly lots and lots of coffee. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body, creamy texture. Taste: cold coffee, cocoa powder, bit sour, bitter touch. Aftertaste: lots of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted flavours, pretty bitter. Too much coffee for my taste, but I guess most coffee stout lovers will go crazy for this one.

Jet black colour. Huge coffee grind aroma, sort of earthy, and chocolate. Very nice aroma. Medium to full body, some ground coffee note, chocolate and velvety texture. A very nice brew that isn’t over the top but tasty none the less.

As expected, bold coffee aromas dominate this. when drinking it, you get a brilliant mix of roasted malt, caramel and, of course, strong coffee. The finish is disappointing, it left me feeling like I just drank cold coffee. Other than that, there isn’t too much wrong with this. A fine brew from Canada’s north.
