MJGG (400), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 26, 2009 Bouteille de 341 ml. May 16, 2009 3,95$ for a 341 ml bottle, at SAQ. This is the only canadian beer from outside Quebec available in any SAQ... Rather shameful because I’m sure there are some good beers brewed in the ROC (Quebec way of saying the rest of Canada, the english 3/4 of Canada) This beer is like "wow"! One of the best stouts I had in bottle, mostly because of its rich and thick texture. Pleasing intense aroma, reddish black color. Taste is very coffeish, dark chocolatish and quite bitter for a stout. Tongue-tingling for sure! Some interesting subtilities. Gets sweeter as it gets warmer. Great english-canadian brew. I’ll buy some more but not as often as I’d like to because it gets too expensive, after "thrudgin’ across the tundra, mile after mile" to get here! JoeZasada (133), Beaumont, Alberta, Canada Apr 20, 2009 Pours dark brown with light brown head. Smells of coffee. Tastes of coffee and malt. Kind of sweet for a stout, coffee lovers will dig this one for sure. douglas88 (1559), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Feb 26, 2009 12 oz bottle thanks to presario. Pours a beautiful dark brown brown color with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet milky coffee, lots of roasted malts also. The flavor is full of loads of milky-sweet coffee, some roasted malts also. Somewhat dry and sweet, but not overly so. A nice medium mouthfeel. Very good. hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jan 21, 2009 (341ml bottle) Pours black with a hint of red. Head is very small and is mocha coloured. Aroma has a lot of coffee with hints of chocolate, a foul stench of rotten egg, vinegar, used diapers, and spice. Aroma is not pleasant, I think this may be a bad 6 pack. Tastes pretty sour, (this is a sweet stout???) rotten egg shows through on the palate very prominently, along with brown sugar, coffee, and chocolate. Yuck! the sourness dominates and makes this very unappealing. This must be a bad bottle. grandgenie (252), gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jan 12, 2009 Dégusté avec french tickler le 17 juin 2007.
Pitch black poor, lively effervescent with a beige foamy head.. No lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate mousse, hints of vanilla, chocolate milkshake, nutmegg and egg nog. Creamy mouthfeel, lightly bitter but long lasting.... Dry finish. Slightly to carbonated and almost feels a little to watered down. Coffee amd dark chocolate hits you right off the bat...... that’s about it.
