DuffMan (1890), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 4, 2006 Massive 1L bottle. This beer is black, with a suggestion of being brown at the edges. No real head. BIG coffee aroma, but vegemite and toast as well. Interesting palate dominated by coffee, but also with some peppery (capsicum) vegetable notes, chocolate, and molasses. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation, bitter finish. Big, bold, and fantastic-- luxurious even!
dchmela (617), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy Presario. Pours jet black with a thick tan head. Big fresh ground coffee aroma which overtakes everything. Wonderful smell (if you love coffee). Taste is smooth and malty, not thick, with a pronounced coffee flavor. Finishes very dry and clean with just a hint of coffee. Very tasty. wetherel (905), Carlsbad, California, USA May 25, 2008 Tried from bottle with Atlanta ratebeer crew at 5 Seasons North tasting. At first I thought I was going to try a redstone mead. Black. Dark tan head. Lots of coffee. A bit of feet in the aroma. Low roastiness, but a bit too dry for my tastes. Thin. shp555 (1359), lilburn, Georgia, USA May 24, 2008 Pours an opaque black color with a dark brown head. Aroma is coffee, roast, chocolate, and a touch of green apple. Flavor is malty, coffee, chocolate, roast, green apple, and a malty molasses finish. unclemattie (1521), Georgia, USA May 22, 2008 1 liter, swing-top bottle. The aroma is as if you have dropped your head into a sack of French Roast coffee beans. The smell is deep and roasty. Great coffee bean aroma. Flavor is light roasted malt, tons of French roast coffee flavor. Medium bodied. I think I’ll finish this for breakfast. Strykzone (880), Wood River, Illinois, USA May 15, 2008 Thanks Presario. Dark black thick pour with a tan short lived head. A sweet roasted chocolate aroma. Chocolate and coffee flavors with some canned milk. Some tongue tingling hop but just a bit. The hop and coffee make for a brief bitter aftertaste. Was sorry that my bottle only held 12 ounces.
