Bitter more than aromatic and flavorful but balanced by an unusually dry malt presence. Perhaps Munich malt added to the bill. An differnt and very nice IPA. Thanks Old Growth. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2003 Huge bitterness, huge orange rindey, tongue coating bitterness. Pine yes, but way more citrus. Head dies right away, scared away by the big oily palate. Loved it - thanks OG, again! MaBeer1972 (421), Leominster, Massachusetts, USA

Bottle-conditioned, probably overdone. Lots of stuff swirling around. A very tasty brew though. I am not an IPA lover, but is almost "spicy". The hops are there, but it's not sticky. Very fresh-tasting. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

I liked the floral/good hoppy aroma on this and the nice coppery color. The taste was good...not too much, not too little. The hoppiness fades in, lingers for a moment, and then slowly drifts away. good stuff! vwsteggie (684), Paxton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 22, 2003 Has a nice amber color and a fruity/hop smell. Taste is of hops and finishes with a typical bitterness. Overall it was a pretty good IPA, nothing special, but better than some of the others I have tried. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2003 A fairly light grapefruit aroma drifts up, along with a bit of toasted malt. It pours a clear amber that drifts into pale yellow around the edges. The head is initially big, but dies away rather quickly. This is fairly easy going IPA with a nice balance between a grapefruit pine hop profile backed by a slightly sweet citrus and maltiness. I'm usually not to keen on too much grapefruit, but this one evens out pretty good without going overboard. Thanks OldGrowth. OldGrowth (1408), North Carolina, USA

It has a subtle but distinct hop signature. Improved since I first tried at a festival. Balanced enough to make a enjoyable brew. goz (359), Chelmsford, Massachusetts, USA

Bottled version. Bumped up a bit for aroma, flavor and overall. Beer seemed much more balanced than the tap version I had before. The tap version had a very green, almost 'raw' taste to it, where the bottled version was much less harsh, and quite enjoyable.
On tap at the Central Mass Blues n Brews Fest 2002 : Golden amber color, no head to speak of. Aroma is a little malty, a little hoppy. Slight malt at first, then an overpowering hops bitterness. Wasn't really too impressed with this one.
