50cl can. Golden with nice , white head. Nose : lightly caramelised pale malts. Citrus. Sip : low carbonation, oily texture. Easy to drink. Nothing special about this common lager.

White head golden pour. Looks like a heineken. Smells like one too: Skunky hops buttery spice malts. Could be okay if the balance works. Too much cereals flavor. Too sweet. Otherwise an excellent reproduction of a work of crap.

On draught in Sofia. Clear, golden. Not much head. Aroma is matly, slightly sweet, hint of jam. Taste is bananas. Mouthfeel is dry. Not a very complex beer, but crisp and refreshing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a tall green bottle from Global Foods into a Willybecher glass. It poured a brilliant orangish-gold colour with thick, everlasting white foam and lace. Very nice appearance. Higher quality and quantity of hops than typical pale lagers in the aroma and flavor departments. Very tasty, grainy pilsener malt-sweetness, faintly pepper and chalky. Light body, very spritzy carbonation, crisp mouthfeel. Pleasant tart aftertaste which eventually finished dry. Surprisingly well-balanced and enjoyable beer. I see many others have rated this beer extremely poorly; maybe that’s just the pessimistic Euro-lager bias, maybe mine was especially fresh and well-kept in the export process... I don’t know, but I’m not ashamed to report this is good beer.

500 ml can from bulgarianfood.co.uk. Dark blonde headless lager with a skunky aroma. Very rough, gassy and not easy to drink. Some bitterness, some sweetness, some bodily fluid. Lifeless.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
POurs brassy gold with a tall, white head.
Scent is barley malt.
Taste is mildly bitter, watery grass.....a bit of cardboard.
Astonishingly, not skunked at all, despite origin, age and green bottle.
Much better than anticipated.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Pours a light gold with a head that does not last. Very thin body with low carbonation. Reminds me of what Heineken should taste like if it is not skunked. A little bit of malt that fades in the mid palate and finishes tasting like close to nothing.

On tap, Sofia... Bad head. Strong Plisener flavor, nice hop and wheat aroma.
