Compact white head on a clear golden body. Fairly light floury nose. Notice the hops mainly in the taste, fairly simple but true to style.

bottled. slight mineral aroma, light texture, moderate bitterness but quite muted saaz character. as with most other czech beers, zatec bottled is nothing like having it fresh on tap

From a bottle poured golden with a fair amount of head. Nice flavor, a litttle bitter, with a good finish.

Tasted 9/20/07. 500ml bottle. Filtered with a golden hue. White head. Fruity bready aromas. Apples and citrus nose. Light to medium bodied with a bright crisp smooth flavor. Good malt flavor but a tad soggy. Smooth brew. Not as dry as most Czech’s, but still nice. The effervescence is low, but widens as it warms. Nothing special, but tasty none the less.

From the bottles this pours a bright golden body (holding it up top the light might account for the brightness) with some lazy bubbling and a foamy white head. It has an aroma of fresh bread with a light (not as in bright) floral/grassy body. It’s got a well rounded, malty body, tasting bready and slightly grainy. The light floral hopping in the flavor doesn’t seen serious enough for a Pilsener. Dry finish. A sessionable lager.

Golden color with a taller light cream colored, slowly diminishing head. Light floral hops mix with flour, dough, resin and a touch of white grapes. A toasted malt start with a mild herbal and dry floral hops infusion. Quite dry in the finish and linger with only a light sweet malt paste residue. reminds me of a dortmunder more than a pils of any kind.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2011 Bottle. Clear solid golden yellow with a firm, frothy white head, about 1/2 inch thick. Nose of creamed grains, fluffy yeast, light corn, and a snappy, sharp resinous corn oil scent. Palate is smooth and frothy up front, then more firm and sharp in the back. Doughy corn and twangy grains tasted. Finishes extremely clean and elevating, with a light yeastiness and a cloudy, pillowy creamed grain flavor. Finishes better than it begins.

New beer at Bodega Brew Pub. Amber bottle. Good beer. Typical Czech style: fresh, pronounced bitter sweet with lots of graininess. Decent head and lace. NIce yellow gold color. Good body and carbonation. A session beer if you like the style.

Pours with a frothy, initially three finger thick, light tan colored head. The beer is a brilliantly clear, rich gold color. Aromatic notes of sweet, butterscotch malt, grassy grain and spicy hops. This has a really inviting aroma to it, I really like the mix of hop and malt notes, though it could perhaps use a touch more hop aromatics.

Fairly dry, with an almost tartness, though not really. Biscuit like malt and a fresh grain character are accented by a hint of butterscotch. The beer is fairly well carbonated which provides an extra tingle on the tongue and a touch more palate cleansing character. Herbal hop notes evoke thoughts of lemon grass, hints of mint, fresh cut hay, and an almost green basil like thing. A touch of bitterness in the finish, as well as a touch of lemon-like tartness. This is on the dry side for a traditional Czech Pilsner, it seems to be lacking that malt fullness and even the diacetyl is a touch on the lower end. Still this is a decent beer, one which I would happily consume a few pints of. Purchased: Bevmo, Pasadena CA

Pour is a very bright yellow. Aroma is almost nothing. Flavor does have a few good points. Some malts and a nice crisp hop show up but not much else. Nice to drink on a warm summer day but nothing to be looking for.
