Zatec beer is new to the outside world but has been brewed in the heart of the world’s most famous hop region since 1004. The Zatec brewery occupies the site of the old Zatec Castle of which one tower and the huge cellars remain, today’s brewery buildings were completed in 1801. Ingredients: Water, Malt and Hops

Clear golden with a frothy clean white head and streaks of lace. This is one of those wonderful thrist quenchers. Starts with caramel malt and a hard to ID spice that, together, grows as it moves through the palate. There is light bittering at the finish to ease things back into line. Super session beer (and at an eye-popping 4.6%!). Recommended.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a creamy head that lingers a bit. Grainy, bread like aroma along with lots of sweet malt. Taste is light sweetness, lots of grain and malt. Very tasty, smooth, and a little creamy. This beer seems to be a little under rated to me. This is a perfect example of a classic pilsener. Maybe its not hoppy enough for people?

Total Wine, Fairfax 500ml ($2.50): Pours a light orange color with a white head. Aroma is grass, malt, and grain. Taste is definitely on the sweet side of Bohemian PIlseners. There is no vegetal skunkiness, nor is there much in the way of hoppy bitterness. Beer is sessionable and has no offensive qualities. Somewhat malty.

330ml bottle. Pale gold, white head. Malty, bisquity aromas, citrus, hops, hints of butter. Dry, medium body and bitterness, balanced CO2. Malty, quite astringent taste, citrus peel, hops, straw, faintly buttery, traces of yeast. (2012-03-14)

Pours a honey-gold with a small white cap. Aroma is malt. bread. Taste is malt, bread...almost a caramel like sweeetness, too. A little flower bitter in the back. A litttle to sticky/clingy as it nears the end. Not terrible, just not a keeper, either.

Bottle: Bright golden pour, short lived white head. Not much of an aroma really... faintly malty. Crisp enough, yet barely any grassey or floral bits. Mostly lager malt and some doughiness. Ok.

Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a slightly hazy golden amber color with a small creamy white head that faded and left decent lacing. The aroma was faintly dry with a touch of perfumey hops. The flavor was tangy and sweetish with notes of bread, faint perfumey hops and a touch of citrus, The finish was medium length tangy bread and hops. Medium body. Eh.

Bottle sample at Sar Hamashkaot, Tel Aviv. Hazy and dark, minimal head. Smells winey, tastes smooth and sweetish. Sleek, medium body and medium finish.
