in bottle ... this was quite a nice easy drinking dunkel. Notes of cocoa with a creaminess to it ... better than expected and actually smoother than some of the German dunkels. I would buy this again

Ar: Molasses and deep toasted malt - a bit of mossy hops. Ap: Chestnut brown and clear - medium light tan head with good retention and a thick ring of foam remains. T: Dark caramel and treacle - sweet and bready, lots of brown sugar - rich toasted malt, quite clean malt profile - low bitterness, with a spicy accent - coffee and nougat on the finish. P: Medium body with high carbonation - finish is medium-dry. O: Nice dunkel - great depth of malt flavor, lots of dark malt complexity and richness.

(Bottle) Dark reddish brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dark bread, roasty malt, chocolate and hints of raisins. Malty, roasty taste with caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, dark bread, raisins and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Quite nice.

Aroma: heavy, raisin, no coffee aromas - rather poor. Very low bitterness, tastes slightly sweet. Full body, heavy (too heavy for me), creamy, low carbonation. For me does not taste like a Czech dark lager, more like a Baltic porter - too heavy and not refreshing at all. Big disappointment.

Dark color. Made a three finger head with low retention. Nice aroma of toasted malts and dark chocolate. Flavor of toasted malts with coffee and caramel notes. Earthy/hay hops also emerges through its malt, and gets more and more present as it warms up. Dry aftertaste, a bit oily and buttery. Medium body and low carbonation. Good beer, faithful to style and very pleasant to drink. A beer not for drinking a single bottle, once it has a good mix between drinkability and flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep copper with small amount of tan head that quickly disappears. A more roasty aroma than most dark lagers. Coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, and something that reminds me of the yoohoo chocolate drink in a bottle. Nothing like elementary school nostalgia while rating beers on the internet. Very grainy taste. Lots of sweet toasted malts that give way to an earthy hop finish. Drinks very light and smooth with a slight hop bitterness left on the tip of the tongue. A unique dark lager.

Found some notes from 2010. Pours deep clear amber with a thick beige head that leaves heavy lacing. The nose is dark caramelized malt, cereal, and just a touch of nuttiness. The flavor is dark cereal malt, a nice dose of caramel, some sweetness, and the same nutty hint from the nose. The body is light with lively carbonation and a medium bitter finish.

Draught at Prague Beer Museum. Clear deep amber/mahogany beer with a rich lasting beige head. Roasted malt aroma, sourish notes, hazelnuts, caramel, some chocolate. Roasted chocolate flavor, caramel, toffee notes, raisins, some coffee notes. A bit thin bodied. Roasted and fruity finish with caramel and chocolate.
