Zatte Bie from Brouwerij de Bie is a jet black masterpiece called drunken honey bee, slightly spiced, six different malts used from pale to dark one gives smoky, roasted note that is rare in such a big beer.

Grande classe, grandes saveurs. Top.

Truly a remarkable beer!!!! But then again not!!! Buyin a bottle is just as crazy as buying a bottle of Helleketetel. I have been to that café, more then once, and yes it is that cozy and warm as you might expect! But drinking this beer will give you that experience, even at home! Godly is all I have to say. Underrated, is the second thing I have to say! Balanced with lots of herbs. Complex but very enjoyable. It takes some time to define this beer is all I know. Hoppy, earthy, with a lot of caramels and ofcorse resins, who cares a shit. One of the best beers I have ever drunk, and one of the most surprising ones ever! With bananas and stewed porks and roasted aborigionals. ? If I see the taste palletes for most of the beers here they resemble each other quite well. Define your own taste. I have had the pleasure, after drinking another beers from this brewery, but I so freaking much liked this one!!!! What else do you want to know, that there was hop in it? Malty, but mediocre, but champagne like with herbs? A stuffed animal with golden wings and butterscotch, with breasts from cough drop? C’mon! This beer was a mix from all of that, and even more. For me it easily resembles the Trappist beer format we know, O and I have another surprise for you, you chocolate and peach lovers! :D Or Daffodils, cheese, rotten eggs lovers,, whatever you like! :D Drinking a Westvleteren now, and wishing it was a Zotte Bie!!!! I have found another remarkable beer that is truly commercial. :D Bought it at the Biergrens in Belgium, in Holland... Long story...

Can’t smell much but looks nice. This has a very nice mouthfeel. the alcohol is there but not too eviden t. The head is fairly similar to the beer. The beer sticks nicely to your mouth and the glass. Really a very pleasant and fantastic beer.

Mmmmmm.... Brown with a fleeting head, nice malty aroma and taste. Subtle yeastiness in the finish, with a nice berry (strawberry and raspberry) taste that rises up with each sip, and hints of chocolate as it warms. An instant favorite.

At Biercircus in Brussels Pours dark brown with medium brown head. Sweet aroma with toffee notes, dried fruits and honey. Flavor develops in glass and contains dried fruits, honey and yeast. Very nice surprise.

UPDATED: JUL 29, 2004 Rich, malty strong dark ale. Honey is an ingredient, and noticable, but not excessive. Very well-balanced.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a decent sized beige head. Very interesting and nice aroma dominated by honey and malt. Nice malty taste, with honey, rich fruits, and a light hoppyish finish. Lovely mouthfeel, warming but apart from that the alcohol is well hid; a class beer.

The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming candy sugar and molasses aroma wafting from this ruby beauty. A slight tan head floats atop the red-hued body. Honey sweetness rises in the finish leaving a slick candy coating on the tongue. Raisiny notes abound and the alchohol is present but not overwhelming. I loved it.

I thought this was quite a good beer. Very malty, sweet and robust. Tastes of green apples braised in cinammon, served over brie.
