COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
’Slack ma Girlde’ is just one of the many quirky names of a true English cider apple. Along with Kingston Black, Foxwhelp and Yarlington Mill it makes up one of over 50 varieties used to make this cider. Those speialised apples are sourced from a small family run orchard in Canterbury. Nearly inedible on the tree, the rich tannins and sharp flavour are transformed in the bottle. Brewed at the Zeffer cidery in Matakana, it’s a kiwi take on the famous English Wes Country style- a golden colour, full flavour and deliciously dry finish. We hope you enjoy! Sam and Hannah

Quite a funky cider. Little bit perfumed and cloudy on the pour. Quite dry on the finish which lingers.

500mL bottle. Poured clear with a light rust colour. Rich nose with an almost tropical nose, mixed with a slight grassy note. Weight comes through the tannins on the palate which moves to a focused, dry finish. Could enjoy many more of these over the summer months.

750ml bottle. Pours a clear medium gold, with long-lasting effervescence. Sharp tannic apple, citrus, mild leather and a touch of mild Swiss cheese make up the aroma. Sharp, tart apple skin up front is moderated by a touch of sweetness. Dusty, leathery tannins lead into some more fruity apple in the mid-palate, with a clean apple finish. It’s refreshing to find a new world cider made with proper cider apples. Whilst this is not the most complex cider I have had, its tart/sweet balance puts it streets ahead of the countless commercial lolly water ciders.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours clear golden with a small white hue on top. Nose alludes to a sweet cider with a touch of tart and funk. Some hay there also. Comes across a lot drier than expected in the taste. Some dry hay, grass, underlying lemon biscuit. Spritzy carbonation with a long dry finish but sweetness in between. Odd cider but works very nicely

Rich deep golden colour. Smells of tropical fruit with a hint of straw. Full bodied with very well balanced acidity and tannins. One of my top ciders

Pale straw colour with full carbonation. Golden honey, stewed apples and juicy (if something can smell juicy, then this can). Fulsome mouthfeel with plenty of on-going tingle all the way to the back of the throat. Good golden loveliness and a definite tartness in a layer underneath. Lip-smacking, not terribly sweet, but not dehydratingly dry. I do like this.
