very dark beer which had a light tan head that never fully disappeared. Sticking my nose into the glass, the overwhelming aroma was Italian roasted coffee, which was complemented in the mouth by the gentlest chocolate flavour, which made the beer smooth in the mouth and satisfying.

Draft. A murky black beer with a huge lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, roasted malt, as well as lighter notes of citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, coffee, and roasted malt as well as light notes of chocolate, leading to a bitter and lightly roasted finish. The mouthfeel is sparkling.

Draught at a blind tasting at Modrý Abbé in Klatovy -08. Murky brown colour, off-white head. Pretty subtle aroma, with caramel and darker malts. Chocolate backbone, leaning towards menthol, in flavour. Low bitterness.

[tap at blind tasting at Modrý Abbé in Klatovy] Roasty/toasty aroma with some dark malt and bubblegum coffee. Hazy dark brown with lacy, tan foam. Flavour=coffee, gingerbread, roasty vanilla, nice malt that is in balance with a medium bitterness. Medium to full body, chewy, lasting dark malt bitterness.

Draught (Modré Abbé, Klattau): Almost black with a firm, lacy beige head; dark malt, roasted malt and also hops in the nose; solid bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; lingering hoppy and roastmalty, mainly dry, finish. A very good, spicy Dunkel from Böhmisch-Eisenstein..............
