3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ogivlado (4987) - Zagreb, CROATIA - JUL 3, 2008
On tap at Hotel Belveder in Železna Ruda, Czech Rep.
Dark brown (almost black) coloured, medium sized beige head, sourish roasty nose. The taste is also roasty with notes of milk chocolate, cocoa and nutts in the finish. Smooth and easy drinkable beer, the best from Ruda.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Marko (3612) - Split, CROATIA - JUN 30, 2008
On tap at the Hotel Belveder and afterwards at the blind tasting at Modry Abbe (Klatovy)... only one rating before mine but there should be quite a lot of them soon. Poured a dark dark brown colour with a medium sized off white head that went away at a medium pace. Dark malts and caramel in the notes, a bit dusty/roasty, some hop too. Some chocolate noted as well later on. The taste was quite nice obviously. Nutty (, with some lovely roasty coffee notes and some cocoa. Thought that it was a schwarzbier, a classy one too. A bit simple, one of my rates calls it a one trick pony (not convinced), but it’s a very good, drinkable beer.

on tap at hotel belveder, just by the ski lifts, on the outskirts of Železná Ruda, sitting next to the fermenters. thick, molasses appearance with a steady, large-bubbled, beige head. aroma of cocoa powder, prune juice, asphalt and apple concentrate. quite sticky, texture-wise with a rather simple licorice flavour with some crushed nuts in the finish. steady but uninspiring
