In short: A nourishing and refreshing spicy wheat ale. Enjoyable
How: Tap at brewpub, batch advertised at 5.4%
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a large white head with good retention
In long: Strong nose of bananas with cloves and light notes of coriander. From the aroma this smelled more like a spicy german hefe than the Belgian wit it is supposed to be. Taste packs a lot of wheat (this is not a water wit), mild spiciness (cloves, coriander), bananas, some oranges, light citric hops presence. Really full body but never heavy, very drinkable as it should be. Nice beer from a brewpub that also makes my favorite north-american pizza. I’d go there to drink beer and eat pizza every day if I could. I am really addicted to not quitting things that are bad for me.

A hazy blonde with a thin white head. Aroma of wild herbs, sage and light sulfur notes. In mouth, a light crisp and clean wit, very light bananas, a bit thin. Not bad, not great. On tap at brewpub, August 3 2009.

This beer has been updated and crafted to be a fine drinking white. On tap at the American Flatbread, this beer goes down smooth and is nice and refreshing and goes great with the organic salads and pizza cooked in the wood oven. Pours cloudy with a nice head with a citrus and spice smell. Flavor is crisp and tastes of cirtus and a faint milky flaivor.

(Rating #680)

On draught at American Flatbread. Pours gold with a white head. Smells of coriander, cloves, oranges, and lemons. Tastes sugary with some orangey hints. More of an American wheat, than a witbier, but still very quaffable.

Someone brought this witbier in a growler to HWOH. Pours a cloudy yellow with a nice pure white fluffy head. Aroma is coriander, wheat, orangepeel, and light pepper. Has a smooth wheaty taste with a phenolic peppery and clove flavor and finishes with a nice clean bitterness. Pretty solid wit.

Draught pint at the brewpub, served interestingly enough in an Allagash glass. A lasting small snowy head sits atop the opaque amber-gold body, offering faint lacing as the glass empties....lemon-orange citric acids are delightfully complemented by subtle vanilla and nicely restrained coriander, with ginger making inroads as it warms....sweet overtones on the tongue with plenty of spicy yeast; sourness grows and wheaty character increases....faint metallic qualities enter at the finish....full body, lively carbonation, a bit much in the acidity department.

4 ounce sample on tap at the brewpub. Some banana hints in the nose with fair amounts of coriander as well. Very spiced, peppery, and aromatic. Moderately hazy straw color with small whitish head and decent lacing. Milky flavor, that is kind of flat with a fair amount of grassy hops present. Mild dry noble-like hops in the finish. Lacks the expected banana/coriander/clove flavors that were in the nose. Disappointing.
