On tap at Sputyen Duyvil. Yellow straw in color with a nice fluffy white head. Hoppy and fruity aroma. Candi sugar notes. Floral and earthy hops. Malty spicey and hoppy flavor. Sugary sweet tasting. Finish is spicey and. Medium bodied. Drinkable.

On tap at Spuyten Duyvil - nice clear straw color out of the tap - wonderfully full aroma, with perfume-like floral and hop notes, bright fruity esters (pear, strawberry), and some belgian yeast and candi sugar - after the aroma, the flavor is disappointing - overly sweet, with a sugar-covered fruits kind of flavor, a mellow spiciness - finishes a little on the thin side - decent, but I wouldn’t drink it again.

Lubiere (9427) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 16, 2006
Golden ale with a thick creamy white head. Light berry notes, strawberries to be exact, and not much else. Rather sweet cloying malt with loads of strawberries, some nutty notes. Again, a oily mouthfeel, with butttery overtones. On tap at BCTC 2006.

nhorween (645) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 1, 2006
Honey colored with a thin white head and decent lacing. Aroma was sweet and piney, with floral and alcohol notes. Wasn’t what I was expecting, but it went well with the pizza.

TaktikMTL (5546) - Montréal-Nord, Quebec, CANADA - APR 20, 2006
(Rating #458)

CapFlu (4359) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 18, 2006
(Draught) Sampled at American Flatbread on April 13, 2006. Again, this beer was oily in texture. It had an iodine and nail polish nose and the flavour was quite coy with a malty sweet burnt caramel and undertones of buckwheat (as mentioned below). Little detection of the ABV. Not my idea of a tripel, as its somewhat of a lifeless malt body without the yeastiness and candy.

muzzlehatch (4424) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - APR 6, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 6, 2006 April 6 2006: Draught tulip at the brewpub. Dark amber, quite hazy with very little head...moderately sweet, herbal (rosemary, thyme) honeyish nose with rapidly developing harsh fuesol character as it warms....lightly alcoholic on the tongue, more herbal touches, acerbic buckwheat honey and a bit of bourbon vanilla....as it warms, it becomes progressively medicinal (cherry/menthol cough syrup) and alcoholic....full, thick, somewhat syrupy body with moderate carbonation. Not a disaster, but not really very good either. 6/3/5/2/11 2.7

May 6 2006: What a difference a month makes. This beer needed a little aging time....now it’s earthy and lightly perfumy in the nose with the alcoholic fuesels muted to gone.....excellently balanced in the body, sweet honey and dry herbal character blending well, with increasingly fruity (apple-pear) touches as it warms...lively carbonation, moderately yeasty, touch sticky. Rating is for most recent sample
