Black with excellent head. Enjoyed at the brewpub. SLightly malty aroma. Taste ius maty, on the chocolate malty side, a bit too astringent. Yet not bad effort.

2013-04-28. Very dark brown black body, small foamy tan head. Modest aroma, dry roast. Hints at fruit? Flavour is similar, modest dry roast, fairly clean, dilute dark malt. Feels a but too light overall. Average to light bodied palate, carbonation suits it. Less fruity and a touch less roast but otherwise fairly similar to the porter. Decent but just okay overall. On tap at American Flatbread. Pours a deep brown to black with a medium sized beige head. Roast all over, a touch of plastic hiding behind it. A bit on the thin side, but with such a low ABV that’s probably to be expected. Nice roast character carries through before a slow roast bitterness. Tasty.

Zero gravity mr black
A rather sweet, almost floury black lager that does not have much roast character.
Gentle chocolate nuances. Solid, but redundant fruity depth, though sweet.
Lacking the refinement of their usual lagers. Quite sweet (caramel, brown sugar, toffee) where I’d like more roast. Not very tight body, lacking a bit in carbonation.

Dark brown body with a very small beige head. Grapes, raisins, more grapes and the more raisins. Dry bready malts with a very light roastiness flavour that plays second violin to the light fruity taste. Hints of chocolate if you try very hard. Overall dry feeling (yeast?). No hops noticeable. Body is light but not watery and the carbonation is aggressive, maybe too much so. Not at all flavourful. Boring. Mr Bland.

En fût. Verre de 12 oz chez American Flatbread (Burlington, VT). Arôme: Odeur de céréales torréfiées. Apparence: La couleur est noire opaque. Présence d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de céréales torréfiées avec une pointe de chocolat. Courte durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement crémeuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Draught pint at the brewpub, July 3 2007. Dark, dark brown with a faint ring of head, translucent/dirty texture....dark malts forward in the aroma, light grapiness, a bit worty....the body is really grapy, worty, unfermented and watery; this really needed more lagering time, no question, or there’s something really wrong....dry and rather sour finish....with some warmth, a bit of chocolaty roast shows up and there’s a bit of improvement, but on the whole this is a failure, at least at the moment. A couple more weeks and who knows? But it wasn’t ready when I tried it.
