Draft. Pouts a dark brown color with a small off white head. Nose is light hops and dark roasty malt. Palate is firm with a light bite. Flavors dominated by crisp biting hops with a subtle roasty backbone. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My Bottom Line:
This floral and roasty Black IPA delights with its cushy mouthfeel and sustained fir-like finish.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the blackened brown.
-Drinkability is quite high despite the flavor intensity.
-All flavors are ably balanced.
-Roasted malts are soft enough to let the floral hop aromatics shine through.

On tap at American Flatbread Burlington.

On tap at American Flatbread (Burlington). Pours dark brown with black cherry reflects. Medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma: interesting mix of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, smoke and wood. Subtle. Taste is not balanced at all. Coffee bitterness is kind of verwhelming. Much more Stout than IPA. Full bodied.

Lacy on black but thin for the style, some licorice. Drinkable although only fair for style. 6

Draft at the brewpub. Has all the visuals of a porter, nuff said. The beer delivers one of the better balances I’ve experienced between a choco-malt base and a nice, even bitter finish. Really, really good. (#5812, 10/9/2014)

Draft @ Zero Gravity. Black color with little retention. Nose is a blend of chocolate malt and pine with some hints of fruit. Flavor is interesting. Lots of different hop nuances. Fruit, pine and light grassyness with a soild amount of chocolate malts. Nice balance of dark malt and plentiful hop addition. Low bitterness. Well crafted

Draft at Anerican Flatbread with Linh, Minh and Angela. Pours a deep black body with thin white lacing. Aroma is pine and mild roast. Mouthfeel is medium with a nice bright pine hop character complimented by a roasty malt flavor. Solid black IPA.

Sample at blackback, flavor and scent are cocoa, espresso, toffee, and pine hops. Lighter to medium body. Pretty solid but not a dank black ipa which few are.

Draft at Black back pub and Tevere Hostel. Dark black pour, lots of roasted malts, dark chocolate, piney hops. Balanced, nice

Really hugely flavorful with a robust ashy flavor that adds to the heavy hop bitterness. Makes it come off a bit astringent. That aside the flavors are great with loads of pine and some grapefruit with a backbone of chocolate maltyness.

On draft, way too roasty and bitter and I like em bitter and roasty, just a big mean ash bitter bomb
