2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
In short: A bad idea
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Almost clear golden body topped by a large off-white head with good retention
In long: Nose has a bit of lavender, some leafy hops and some ginger. That’s a very perfumy nose. Taste just did not work at all for me. Basic slightly toasted biscuit malts and then the leafy hops, the lavender and the ginger all clash together to create this annoying flavor that is somewhere between flowery perfume and aromatic medicinal. I must say that this beer delivers exactly what it claims to be, which is a pale ale with ginger and lavender. I didn’t know if this could work, apparently it doesn’t, for me at least. It’s not because the beer is not well brewed, it’s just that a pale ale with ginger and lavender is probably a bad idea. And weird beer ideas are like fat people, most of them don’t workout.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Burlington location. This was really an interesting beer...one of a kind. Advertised as a lavender ginger pale ale, and you can certainly taste both. The smell is strongly lavender, very flowery. The taste has a bite with a ginger finish...very noticeable. Easy to drink, although I’m not sure it’d work as a long-term session beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear gold with an orange hue and a white head that dissipated to the edges and laced. Aroma has a nice combination of of ginger, lavender and citrus hops with a bit of a floral backing. Flavor was similar with a nice balance and citrus in the finish. Drank nice and easy.
