4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Desverger (434) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2012 (On tap at Zerodegrees, Blackheath, London) which is one of my local drinking dens and this Black Larger is my autumn/winter session brew of choice. Have been drinking this for years and never tasted anything else quite like it. The trick is to cradle it first to warm, as I always find its served to cold for my liking straight from tap, but give it some time and then it comes around its very drinkable indeed. It pours dark brown with a tan head, nice aroma and complex taste combination of smoky, nutty, malt/caramel, and coffee chocolate. A firm session favourite of mine at the local.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 kiwianer (2462) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - SEP 6, 2012
Brewpub Cardiff. The head is stable, the body black. It smells a bit flat chocolate. The taste is a bit malty, darkmalty, roasty, a bit flat. It was served to cold and with to much CO². 11/10/9/9/-/9
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 berkshirejohn (3685) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 31, 2012
On tap at Zero Degrees, Reading, stated ABV 4.6%. Pitch black with a ring of beige head, and high carbonation; aroma of dull chocolate malts; dry and spritzy in the mouth with a good chocolate malt flavour; soft and sweet to finish with an underlying bitterness. Rather light and inconsequential overall.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beesbeer (358) - WALES - AUG 5, 2012
Complex and very interesting. Take time to enjoy the mix of high and low notes. Kind of chocolatey and rice krispies. Very delicious but perhaps not on such a hot day as today.

7th December 2011 Cask at Pigs Ear. Opaque black beer, tiny tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry. Mild dark malts. A little licorice spice. Trace of candy fruits underneath. Dry finish. Allright but could be a bit crisper.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kermis (2602) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAR 14, 2012
Draft at Zerodegrees. The name doesn’t tell the full story.. It’s like a nice light porter. Dark pour with a beige head, and coffee in aroma and flavour. Good beer, and the best I tried in the brewpub that day.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 oh6gdx (18799) - Vasa, FINLAND - DEC 20, 2011
Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Festival 2011. Deep amber colour, small brown head. Aroma is spices, mild roasted malts along with some slight gluelike sweetness. Flavour is quite much a German Schwarzbier, but has some more herbal and earthy notes.
