Draught at the Reading Zerodegrees Brewpub on 22 March 2014. Poured a lightly hazy, pale golden colour, with a very thin, white head and good lacing. Aroma of lager malt, corn and soft fruit. Somewhat soapy initial flavour, with pilsner malt and bread. Finish was orange peal, lemon and copper.

A fairly mediocre beer this was the main reason I did not even bother trying to get any more half pints before moving on to the next pub. It’s not a terrible beer so much as one that feels mailed in. If I’d done more homework I would have skipped it entirely.

Aroma / Appearance - A brisk white head with radiant yellow base glimmers with hope. Active carbonation shows signs of life. Lemon crisp, sweet sorbet, and noble hops give off inviting aspects. Somehow though it just smells mostly like fresh white toast.

Flavor / Palate - A mild bitterness lingers on the tip of the tongue. The skunky notes come a few seconds later ruining any hope that this might be a passable beer. Sourdough in the finish almost overcomes the deficiency but this is not a great beer. In fact nothing here was that great; just go down the road to a Brains pub instead.

Desverger (1282) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 21, 2013
Keg@Blackheath, SE London - Gold pour with a medium white head. Citrus hop mix with sweetish biscuit malt character. Have had this a few times through the years and I swear the recipe has changed/been tweaked over time but on recent tasting/rating better than I remember. Pretty good overall.

Leighton (9833) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2013
Keg at the brewpub, London. Pours clear gold wtih a fine, white cream head. Realy doughy stuff, plenty of white bread in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with crispy pale malts, dough, straw, very light grassy bitter bite, mellow grains. Light bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Crisp finish, some light dry hay and grains, pale bready sugars. Excellent, simple, super drinkable pils.
