1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Seven Seas distributing. Aroma is vaguely floral. Light golden, cloudy hue. Mild in flavor, with a lasting effervescense in the mouth. Tart, puckering hop finish. More of a novelty with great packaging. For less than $2, itíll do in a pinch.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pour is a cloudy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is actually pretty good. You get a nice malty aroma for a lager. Flavor is not as bad as some Eastern Euro brews. And no skunk! NIce malts and a wee bit of hops at the end make this a very suprising lager from Russia.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Hardly deserves a rating. Golden color with a thin white head. Lacing is almost nonexistent. Boring grainy flavor. At least it tastes fresh.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
my notes(which are usually pretty hard to decipher around this point during a beer tasting) suggests this is not a very memorable beer. pale yellow color, slight head. grainy aroma, with very little flavor, and whatís there is a bit sweet for me. a disappointing russian brew (iíll stick with my baltika 3).

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2005 Pale and straw-colored with an airy, bubbly white head that vanishes quickly, this has the faintest of sweet grassy aromas. Itís extremely light feeling in the mouth, as if it almost wasnít there. The taste is abouth the same, nearly non-existent, mildly sweet malt with plenty of corn and perhaps some honey. The finish was as clean as one could get. Thanks, dm9831.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Sweet honey nose. Has a strong taste of honey and lemon zest. Has a finish similar to dirty dishwater. Sour aftertatse. Not horrid, but not great.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
bottle. pours a hazy dark yellow with a fat pocked white head. dusty yeast aroma. taste is a stale odd lemon flavor that isnít unpleasant but not exactly pleasing. has a taste of dirt/earth in the finish .might be the best russian beer iíve had, but i havenít had many.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. A golden larger with eastern European influence and style. Corn sweat aroma, with adjunct-city inclusions. Not euro-strong but heading that way with a Spanish twist.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear
medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain/bread), moderately hoppy
(flowers, herbs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Thin and watery, yes, but pretty darned clean and a shocking amount of hops in the aroma (and plenty of bitterness in the finish)...this is the hoppiest Russian beer Iíve had so far. Not industrial or repulsive in any way. In a small flight of Russian, Lithuanian, and Polish lagers, this was the winner by far, but perplexing due to the low average rating here. Thereís no way Iíd guess this to be from Russia in a blind test...doesnít smell or taste adjuncty at all, nicely balanced, and as I said, a nice rush of noble hops in the nose. The only one I didnít pour down the drain. Iím confused...the label is identical to the one on this page, so itís certainly the right beer. But an average of 1.8? Very bizarre. This is one of the best beers Iíve had from Russia...smells like all-malt, no icky aftertaste or off notes. This is more of a Dortmunder than the Svyturys Ekstra, quite frankly. I even let it warm and nothing evil came out. Very very weird.
