New Beer Distributors, NY 50cl ($2.25): Pours a golden color with barely any head. Aroma is near nil, mostly just grain and nail polish. Taste is just pretty sweet Euro-lager. There is barely a hop to be seen. Apparently Russian hipsters drink this. I’ll take PBR over this any day.

Clear and light golden with a fast dissipating, fluffy head. Aroma is slightly sourish with grains, cardboard, boiled vegetables and wet dog. Taste is sweet and slightly malty. slight hints of bitterness at the end, harsh and not very nice. body is light and carbonation medium

rarbring (1269) - Linköping, SWEDEN - AUG 10, 2012
Aroma: Smelling of grain, boiled vegetables and a dash of lemon.
Appearance: The beer is clear yellow straw, a quickly settling white head, little lacing and medium curtains.
Taste: Sweet white bread, lemon marmalade, corn flakes, boiled carrots.
Palate: Medium high carbonation, slightly sticky, medium body a dry finish.
Overall: A so-so sweet euro pale lager, could have been from any European larger lager brewery.
Note: Bottle 330 ml, twist cap. Reviewed 2012-08-10.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Grass/hay and malt in aroma. Round, malty taste, no particular after taste. Very light bodied. Very anonymous lager.

Bottle. Clear pale golden body, small white head. Grainy aroma of pale malts and sweet maize. Taste is sweet maize-like grainy pale malt tones with hints of medicinal bitterness. Faint, all in all. Medium carbonation. Pretty nondescript, and nothing I’d love to say "na zdorovje" with.

A bottle from Mix-Market. Pours a bit dark golden beer with a small white head. Grain and malt in the nose. Nice crispy malty bitterness, hops are not really remarkable. Overall a quite pleasant, easy to drink beer, probably the best Zhigili i have tried so far.

Took a while to track the name of this beer down, but worth it. Pleasantly surprised at the overall drinkability of this Russian beer. A nice golden/coppr color with adeqaute head, and just enough sharp bitterness to make you take notice. Mild but pleasant smell also...one of the best Russian beers I’ve had.
