Pours a dark caramel color with medium-sized white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is malt and otherwise nondescript. A lot of carbonation with a bland malty flavor. Not even close to a Shiner in my opinion (especially on draft where you get Shiner's nutty flavor).

Spotted this on the way to visit a buddy in TX. Never seen it before so I had to get a sixer. Okay, but nothing notable or even special. Good color, nice head, some lacing. Rather bland maltish flavor.

Brown color small head that faded fast, light malt aroma with a maybe small caramel as well. The taste was nothing special light malt semi sweet with little else to offer. The after taste was forgettable with mainly light malt. This is a dissappointing brew and is only good for trying once anything else would be palate suicide.

Brown colored Bud is what I thought when I tasted it. Way too much carbination for my liking. Tasted more hints of a nut brown that an American dark.

bleh. another crap attempt (see AmberBock) to cut into Shiner's market. Shiner still has the market on dark lager/'bock light' fellas

Well I'll give credit for A-B for trying (just not very well) to make a local beer style, yep it's an attempt too cut into Shiner Bocks market (didn't aim very high on this one). Really very bland, nothingness beer. Some maltness charcateristics. Just don't get fooled again beer.

A very "horsey" beer. Horse shit aroma, horsey barnyard flavors, but not in that good Belgian way. This is rated almost as high as Shiner Bock, but Shiner is much better, and actually a quaffable product. This stuff is pretty rancid. Ugh.

Bock? My ass! Just because it has a goat on the label does not make it a bock. I usually cut AB a little bit of slack - but this is really bad and a bad ripoff of Shiner Bock (which isn't very good either). Tinny, musty aroma. Light head sitting on a light amber pour. Flavor is very bland - artificial - no bock sweetness to it all. Reminds me of Busch with artificial color in it. Does not go down smooth - difficult to finish the whole bottle. Do Texans really buy this crap? Lone Star is better than this!

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2003 The nearest thing to nothing for beer that I've ever had. Slightly stinky malt aroma. The beer has the appearance of a glass of Coke that you let the ice melt in. White head. The label is too Texas ass-kissy. A little sweet, a little peppery, but damn near no flavor. Watery palate, watery finish. This is an unabashed attempt to undercut Shiner Bock, especially from the taps -- which, although no great prize in the beer department, it is a regional brewery which has garnered a following. This is just a bad knock-off.

A wanna be Shiner Bock. An okay copy, but even more watered down than Shiner and less taste. To give it credit, it's one of the better AB products; maybe they should try to emulate halfway good beers more often. When I was first getting into beer, I initially thought that Ziegen Bock was something similar to Shiner, with all of the advertising and all. Once I found out it was made by AB, everything made sense about this beer...
