Anheuser-Busch pulled a fast one on me. I never saw it coming. They already have Michelob Amber Bock so why did they have to make this? To make Texans feel special? "Only available in Texas" they proudly proclaim. A watery, slightly soapy/flowery tasting, thin, watery (did I say that already?) alcoholic beverage that is not very impressive.

Sampled druaght at Omni Hotel, Richardson.
Nut brown. with little head. Soapy, thin and lightly nutty. Just a vague hint of hops in a metallic finish with very low bitterness.

Dark brown with a chocolate/cappucino head. Rather flat tasting with less character than A-B's Michelob Amber Bock. Bare hint of coffee. Bare beer, aimed at the mass markets. I was disappointed, but it's still better than many mass-produced products.

this beer rocks and when you can get it on tap, do yourself a favor and give it about 2 or 3 before you make up your mind.

I was wondering if this was Bock-lite or Bock-by-Bud. It was billed as a local Texas craft beer. It was free. Even free, it was a bad deal ...

Fizzy amber lager, not much bockish about it, similar in damp, light malty effect to the Shiner it emulates.

a quality texas brew. i had already polished off about a 12 pack of shiner when we got to the ol' zb, so i'm not sure what it tasted like, but its made in texas, so it has to be good

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2003 Picked this up while doing a quick liquor run in Dallas. Seems to be more of the same: a decent amber color, but feels like water, has no kick to it at all, and flavor is completely one-dimensional.

Malty aroma. Amber color, very bubbly, small white head with no retention or lacing. Flavor is of herbs and malt. Finish is earthy and a tad skunky. Far too carbonated for my taste, which is distracting.
