Barely drinkable. Not that I expected more but it seemed a better choice than Coord, Bud or MGD 64.

Made to compete with Shiner Bock. They copied the look and the taste. It’s not bad for cheap beer, but it lacks any kind of depth to its taste or body. Watery brown stuff.

It is a beer. Looks like flat cola and tastes like watered julmust. I could drink a lot of it. Just not noteworthy.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2013 Tap: deep brown with mahogany hints... Almost red-ish. Barely any head, beige tinted and more of a skin than anything. Aroma is very subdued. Slightly metallic, grainy, with a very faint hint of toasty, caramel malt. Uninspired. Taste is a bit better, with some light buttery toffee malt, faint caramel, toasty bread, and light cocoa powder sweetness. Notable crisp yeast, somewhat astringent and sharp metallic bitterness that hinders but doesn’t kill things. Clean finish with some mild residual sweetness and a dry breadiness. Not great but not awful either... Merely okay.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle: taste is a little bit of yeast. This is not really a great beer because the taste is not really there. A good drunk beer.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2013
Location: Draft at IAH, 9/12/13
Aroma: The nose is light and malty, some earthy and must notes, quite faint though
Appearance: The pour is a nice dark amber color with a froth of beige head
Flavor: The taste is sweet and malty, lacks a balancing hop presence of any kind
Palate: This one feels a little watery and slightly sticky, plus-carbonation, short finish
When this is the closest thing to craft you have other than Sam, you have a beer selection issue. You didn’t need to know this was AB to know this was AB. AB making a beer only for Texas: your expectations will be correct. At least it has a decent look.
