11.2oz bottle in a tulip. Pours ruby/deep brown with a thick, lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of slighty spicy yeast, some caramel and bread malts, and light floral hops. Flavor about the same. Average texture. Not the best Belgian ale.

330 ml bottle from a Belgian Christmas Sampler Pack at Bevmo Salinas. No year or BB on bottle or cap. Nose is prunes, yeast, a hint of sweet candi sugar, and a bit of background smokiness. Hazy brown with a medium lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lighly bitter, lightly smoky, with bits of background brown sugar.

330 ml bottle, as X-mas Zinnebir, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. No vintage mentioned on the bottle, so I assume it is 2010, and that this is the same recipe as 2009. ABV is 6.5%. Mahogany colour, huge beige head. Spicy aroma, also notes of dark dried fruits, caramel and brown bread. Soft and rich moutheel. Malty and spicy flavour, some caramel and brown kandij sugar without being too sweet, some roasty notes, well balanced mild Christmas spices, peppery and hoppy finish. Very enjoyable.

750 ml bottle, 2009. Bright and clear dark caramel color, huge tan head (almost a gusher). Aroma of sweet caramel candy covered with milk chocolate, light spice. Taste is dark roasted coffee grounds, nutmeg, cinnamon. Decent.

Bottle. It pours a brown to copper body, unclear, and topped by a small, dense, beige head. Some spices in the aroma which is mostly fruity and sweetish, with dried fruits and cellar in the back. The flavor is sweet with a touch of coffee grit, dried fruits, caramel and a pleasant bitterness kicks in after a few seconds. Some bitterness in the end too. Full body, nicely carbonated. Well, it’s not my choice of Christmas beer, but it’s a nice beer anyway. 110107

BeerandBlues2 (9693) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - MAR 22, 2011
Bottle shared by Butters at the 14th Richmond Gathering. Pours clear tawny with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, cookie, toast), medium hops (floral, citrus), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of dates, brown sugar, and vanilla. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation with a dry finish.

330 ml bottle. Dim amber body with a fine, dense tan head. Aroma feels like sweet caramel, some fruit and a bit spicy. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, ripe fruit and spices. This is simply a quite regular Christmas beer, but with a fine harmony and almost perfectly balanced. Very enjoyable.
