On tap at Poechenellekelder. Deep brown in colour with a thick white head. Initial impression malty, with some Belgian yeasty spice in there, but then a surprisingly strong floral hop character comes through. Finish is medium bitter. Hides alcohol strength well, but still a little warming. A very nice hoppy take on a traditional winter ale.

Aroma is fruity and spicy with some yeasty notes. Flavour has spicy tones, apricot, yeasty tones, semi-ripe fruits and some funkiness. Nice, just the right amount of spices here.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2015 Roodbruin troebel bier. Mooie plakkerige schuimkraag. Beetje grassige smaak, heel zacht met een hoppig bittertje op het eind. Niet écht een typisch kerstbier maar zoals wel meer bij de la senne een bier met een twist (maar wel een lekkere twist)

Brown body, very stable head. Delicate yet wintery aromas with dark bready malts, light spice (clove), bit woody. Solidly hopped too /for the style) as expected from this brewer. Great stuff. Very balanced taste too, rich sipping at moderate abv. Certainly not too sweet. (33cl bottle from QV.ID)

@ Moeder Lambic 15-10-30: En ganska ordinär juleöl med tydlig kryddiga toner som så ofta blir allt för obalanserat.

330 cL bottle from Whole Foods PM. Pours turbid brownish ruby with 3-finger, frothy head. Nose is earthy vienna malt, vinous fruit, spice. Tastes malty, fruity, I dare say barleywiney, with some mild spice. Works OK as an X-mas ale, but works even better as a barleywine.
