On tap at Poechenellekelder. Deep brown in colour with a thick white head. Initial impression malty, with some Belgian yeasty spice in there, but then a surprisingly strong floral hop character comes through. Finish is medium bitter. Hides alcohol strength well, but still a little warming. A very nice hoppy take on a traditional winter ale.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. 2014 vintage Bronze body, creamy off-white head. Aromas of brown sugar, cocoa, dark plums & dried fruits & cake spices. Not as trick as expected, rather dry, savoury, some creamy carbonation in the works. Get some dark brown sugar, plum pudding-like character upfront, the sweetness is short lived, glace cherry & candied peel, cinnamon & nutmeg - none of which are prominent, just hints of each. Dry savoury, almost woody spice finish. This would work really well if it were bigger, more rich, unctuous - flavours are a bit lost in the mix.

Taste: Solid malt, spiced bread notes with a hint of dark fruit cake. Nice earthy bready spicy nose. Brownish copper color, unfiltered with large tan head of broken sticky lattice. Full body Belgian ale.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Gent. Clear amber beer with a nice offwhite/beige head. Malty caramel aroma, grainy, dark bread, some spices. Spicy floral flavor, hay, dark bread, some perfume. Not really my thing.

Bottle as 2015 from Geers. Clear amber body with a medium offwhite head. Dark fruit, raisins, dates, hazelnut, chocolate notes, some bitterness as well. I don’t think that I’ve ever had a bad beer from De La Senne!!

2013 version. Nice balance between the bread notes from the wheat and the heavier malts.

Corpo decisamente pieno, ben carbonata, quasi appiccicosa.
