Clear pale golden body with a compact white head. Hops on the nose while the taste is mainly malty. Plain but enjoyable.

Bottle ( comes as a "Glass heller Freude"): Pale golden, thin but stable white foam, sticking to the glass; sweetish grainy/malty nose with a tinge of grassy hops and dust; faint sweetish-malty flavour with a distinctive, but mild bitterness; slightly bitter finish with a tinge of citrus. Not overwhelming, but quite pleasant and refreshing....................

Sweet floral head. Deep straw color with quickly dissapating head. Sweet taste with a nice balance of the very floral hops and rich malt. Would have liked a cleaner finish. Cheers!

Moderate Austrian session lager. Pale gold, short head. Reasonably zesty aroma - some cut grass. Quenching palate, dry finish. Hint of lemony hops amid the malts. Good balance.

[on tap in Salzburg] Bright, pale straw with a nice, white flanel blanket that produced pretty lacing. Weak aroma of mostly noble hops and a little corn. Bland malt flavour well balanced with low noble hops and a little bit of bitterness at the end. Light body with moderate carbonation and a clean finish. Not offensive, but not very tasty either.

Oh man. Zipfer. Drank many rounds of this in Innsbruck while bar hopping with random people from Wisconsin and the north of England. Classic.

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Comes as "Zipfer Original". Quite classical golden lager with a pretty high hoppiness. Not much fuss about this one. 140701

Bottled, pasteurised, 660ml. Yellow gold, lightly carbonated, white head. Initially a very pleasant beer, lemony a touch of hop and a crisp malt. The further through the bottle though, a sweetish, cloying palate develops. Enjoyable, but a bottle to share.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2008 Very pale colored. Glue in the aroma and a bit of malt and apple. Medium to full bodied. Apple in the flavor. Grainy. Some bitterness that lingers on in the aftertaste, in which the glue returns. Sticky. Can. Grainy, soapy aroma. Grainy, soft flowery flavor with a hint of citrus and a soft hopbitterness. Standard lager.

(Canned, Zipfer Original Import, "Ein Glas Heller Freude") Pale golden color with a small head. An aroma of grainy malt, yeast, fruit, and somewhat harsh hops. Sweetish-malty, moderately bitter, fruity and honeyish flavor. Light to medium-bodied palate with well-balanced carbonation. Very easily drinkable and well balanced - yet not thin or watery. Not at all bad for a pale lager.
