Light yellow and clear, starts with a white head, not lasting. Kind of unpleasent, sweet aroma. Flavor is a bit better, perhaps some bitterness from hops, metallic. Flavor is ok, the rest not.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2010 The aroma is weak with perfume and corn like malt. The appearance is pale gold with a large foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with a metallic bitterness and a grassy-floral finish. The palate is smooth. Overall this is not just like your run of the mill lager, it’s worse.

11.2oz bottle in a tumbler. Pours very light with little head. Aroma of the bitter pale lager malts with little hops. Flavor standard for a pale lager - liquid bread. Very light texture. Boring.

A pale lager with attributes like many others. Smooth in the mouth. Skunky aftertaste.

Michelob looking bottle labeled Glas Heller Freude Original Import 5.4%. . . Sometimes it has this faint corn like smell. Other than that a pretty standard euro-pale lager. Serving: Bottle

Pale yellow with white rocky head. Aromas cardboard, sweet malts, starch. Medium full-bodied in the mouth , smooth carbonation. Taste sweet malts, metallic, starchy. Hints of hops and dryness in the finish. Mouth-feel is good. Not very interesting, rather typical pale lager, but somewhat balanced. My bottle said "Heller" 5,4 ABV and has rice in it.

50cl can, bought in Interspar on account of label mentioning "Gebraut mit Naturhopfen"... Pours a pillowy piss yellow, chemical/plastic fumes arise through sickly sweet mash malts; mouthfeel of adhesive cardboard, bandaid; metallic hop kick sets in late in overdrive. A drainpour desaster - please somebody explain how this reached 94% as a Pale Lager?

Bottle. As ‘Zipfer Original’. Pours yellow with a diminishing white head. Sweetish, slightly dry aroma. Malt, hops and cereals. Same goes for the flavour. Milky and apple notes in the mildly bitter finish. 06-07-07.

Poured from can. Pours a clear yellow-gold with very minimal carbonation and a very minimal head. Smells very grassy and slightly hoppy. Taste is actually a little complex. Malty up front, finishing hoppy and a little sweet. Kind of intriguing. Nevertheless, I lump it in with a lot of the other Austrian beers I’ve had. They all taste remarkably similar. Ever heard of variety, Oesterreich?
