COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Oatmeal Porter incorporates the smooth creaminess of organic rolled oats with mysterious dark chocolate and coffee undertones. A little creative hopping leaves a balanced beer that’s not your traditional porter. This porter was our original winter seasonal, but an angry mob of cult followers threatened us when we proposed to stop brewing it. For our safety and your pleasure, the Oatmeal Porter is now offered year-round.

Hops: Magnum & Sterling

Near black pour with a 1 finger, creamy tan head. Aroma is big on chocolate and roasted nuts, a little old campfire smoke, a tiny bit of char and a nice touch of toasted grains. Flavor is chocolate, char, smoke and roasted nuts, then earth, coffee, light tannins, a hint of toasty grain. Light to medium body, a medium to heavy and sharp carbonation neutral entry, dry, slightly chalky finish. Good overall, but the mouthfeel doesn’t really fit the beer, too dry, thin and over carbonated. Still, pretty enjoyable.

Thanks to huskertan! Pours a clear reddish brown from the bottle with dissipating tan white head. Aroma of big chocolate and coffee sweetness with nice earthy notes on the back end. Taste follows, a hint of smoke and slight bitter finish. Solid for what it is, a little thin.

12 oz bottle from the smoke shop in McCook. This was definitely the best beer I consumed in McCook and now I’m having another bottle. It’s a great looking porter, very black with a tan head that never goes away. Aroma is rich and full with malty notes of cacao, coffee, light hops and dark bread. Palate is medium dense and works well with the flavors of chocolate, coffee, raisins and earth. Some modest hop notes come through to add a pleasant bitter dimension.

12 oz bottle purchased at HyVee in West Des Moines, Iowa as a single. The pour is a black brown, almost opaque, with a ˝ inch khaki head. The aroma is soft char roast, faint vanilla sweet, and some nutty caramel malt. The taste is the sweet caramel nut malt, followed by char roast and cereal grain flavor of oatmeal. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and a char mineral finish. Easy drinking, solid Porter.

Bottle. Very dark dense looking pour with a small dense white head. Mild roast and semi-sweet. Smooth fairly dense palate. Yummy.
