heavy (503), Split, Croatia Apr 7, 2008 05/04 On tap at the brewpub. Murky darker golden bodied with medium white head that lived really long. Strong weizen yeast aroma, meaning banana, some orange, cloves and some other spices. As it’s unpasteurized aroma is also sourish, which gave me impression of a very "natural" beer. Flavor is very nice as well, slight bitterish though, but yeast is still dominating along with wheat malt sweetness. Full bodied, not nearly watery as most beers of this style, perfectly balanced and tasty. Of course, finish is nice as well, really long sweetness which follows the flavor. Nothing complex of course, but a great Weizen indeed, probably the best I’ve ever had! Doggythedog (1020), Split, Croatia Oct 19, 2007 0.5l draught at the brewpub. Poured a murky dark apricot/orange colour with a medium sized thick off white head that went away at a slow pace. The nose started off quite nice and quite by the book, with notes of banana, cloves, and bubblegum, but was ruined a bit by some odd sourish aroma. I was afraid that it’d be spoiled, but it turned out not to be. A somewhat light, pleasant, refreshing taste. Lactic, banana, quite yeasty, a bit bready taste with just a touch of hop bitterness near the end. The mouthfeel was lovely, pleasantly smooth. Surprisingly nice, and the better of the two Croatian wheats. Better than almost every other Hefeweissbiers that I’ve head, but that might be because of the freshness. All in all, worth the long wait. (from what I know, this brewpub started brewing again this year again after 3 years of "pause"). ogivlado (2394), Zagreb, Croatia Dec 24, 2002 Sampled draught at Bavarska Pivnica, Jastrebarsko, Croatia. - the best Jastrebarsko beer, very rich head, fruity aroma, refreshing
