Bottle 2010-07-26, Göteborg AR: dark syrup baked bread - the aroma is a bit wage AP: dark bread syrup/reddish body/high light beige creamy head F: syrup sweet, wee dark bread, schmaltzy texture - lubricates my lips with sugar, but on the other hand a good quencher! Medium low bitterness

Bought at Systembolaget as "Zlatopramen Anno 1642 Half n’ Half". Pours clear orange with a small off-white head. Aroma contains caramel, wood, band aid, dry fruits and cardamum. Sugar sweet, roasted and bitter flavors with alcohol notes. Medium body. Medium carbonation. May work with or in a dish that requires a sweet drink, but does not stand particularly well on it’s own.

Bottle. Hazy amber with a large tan head. Sweet aroma of malt, bread and caramel. The taste was also sweet with bread, caramel and some butter. Very drinkable but not that exciting.

I am probably not the only to at some time during a session of drinking has wondered about mixing a dark and light beer together. And having a decent dark and blond lager gone on to do so. And as memory serves me this is about what I ended up with. Keep in mind that Zlato makes decent beer. But you get a brew that is watery and over carbonated. The flavors offset each other rather than enhance each other. This is a decent brew with a twist. Nothing special.Nothing offensive. Worth a try if you seek something different.

Rune (7777) - Tromsř, NORWAY - JAN 21, 2010
500ml bottle from Systembolaget, Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. Almost perfect in appearance with its shining amber body under a beige, foamy tophead with good retention, leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Smell of fresh bready malts. Multifold of malts in flavour; a bit of nuts, bread and caramel. Mild candy sweetness offset by a discreet touch of hop resin towards the end. Medium bodied. Smooth on the swallow. Sometimes I find great pleasure in drinking a rich malty beer like this (Tromsř, 18.01.2010).

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2010 Apperance: 4/5 Hazy amber liquid with a big dirty white foam that left a nice lacing with lots of foam. Smell: 5/10 Malt, caramel and something sweet. Taste: 5/10 Malt, caramel, lots of sweetness and sugar. Mouthfeel: 5/5 Very smooth and pleasant mouthfeel. Creamy thick body that went down easily Comment: Actually a surprisingly nice beer. It’s not very complex but a malty and sweet beer, with a pleasant mouthfeel. I think this beer would work very well with some heavy salty food, like a Weiner schnitzel or some meaty sausages. It didn’t work very good with spicey food. It’s biggest problem is the very high sweetness, at first it didn’t bother me but after a while it got too heavy.
