As Zlatopramen Half & Half
Brown color with medium sized head. The aroma is interesting, not fresh, but at least bready. The flavor is less interesting, a bit stale; there is caramel and a very light bready character; correct bitterness; the final is just a bit nutty. Medium-dry.

50 cl. bottle from SB. As Zlatopramen Half n’ Half. Clear, amber colour with a big, frothy off-white head. Sweet aroma with toast rye bread, caramel malts, fruits and brown sugar. Taste is sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes sweet with toasted malts, bread and caramel malts. Only a slight bitterness. Okay beer, I like the rye bread notes.

(bottle received by trade from Yogi_beera) Amber colour with a short beige foam. Sweet, slightly sugary malty aroma. Sweet malty, slightly toasted taste with a dense hoppy bitterness towards the finish. Medium to light bodied, crispy mouthfeel. A tad too sweet for my liking but all in all fairly drinkable.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2009 Bottle, as Half ’n’ Half. A dark golden beer with a small beige head. Some butterscotch on the nose, but mostly sweetness, caramel and pale malts. The flavor is on the malty side too, with some butterscotch and a little bitterness. Medium body. A decent beer, but not worth spending time finding. Rating: 5-3-6-3-12-2.9. (090213)

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber body with a small beige head. Malty aroma with caramel, some roasted aromas and a fruityness. Pears and yellow apples I think. Roasted, caramel flavor, lower on fruityness, and with a little bitterness. Medium body. Quite fruity finish, but with a balancing maltyness. Some notes of cellar too. A decent beer but that’s it. Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, caramel, nutty notes, toffee and butterscotch notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light metallic. [20090201]

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2010 Apperance: 4/5 Hazy amber liquid with a big dirty white foam that left a nice lacing with lots of foam. Smell: 5/10 Malt, caramel and something sweet. Taste: 5/10 Malt, caramel, lots of sweetness and sugar. Mouthfeel: 5/5 Very smooth and pleasant mouthfeel. Creamy thick body that went down easily Comment: Actually a surprisingly nice beer. It’s not very complex but a malty and sweet beer, with a pleasant mouthfeel. I think this beer would work very well with some heavy salty food, like a Weiner schnitzel or some meaty sausages. It didn’t work very good with spicey food. It’s biggest problem is the very high sweetness, at first it didn’t bother me but after a while it got too heavy.

I am probably not the only to at some time during a session of drinking has wondered about mixing a dark and light beer together. And having a decent dark and blond lager gone on to do so. And as memory serves me this is about what I ended up with. Keep in mind that Zlato makes decent beer. But you get a brew that is watery and over carbonated. The flavors offset each other rather than enhance each other. This is a decent brew with a twist. Nothing special.Nothing offensive. Worth a try if you seek something different.
