2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
As part of International food tour of hells kitchen we stopped in this Balkan restaurant. Only had time for one brew but seems like ill have to come back to tick some more Balkan countries. drank very quickly but it was refreshing enough for the hot day. pours yellow with green hint mabe just lighting and frothy white head. nose is yeasty, and of stale hops. tastes of bitter hops, socks, yeast, grass, and vanilla. Happy to get a Slovak tick and the food at this joint is decent.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
The aroma smells of sour dough yeast and caramel malts, and the appearance combines a clear, dark straw color with a large white head that dissipates quickly to a thin layer on top of the liquid. The taste is mildly sour, a touch sweet, and a touch umami, which sounds appealing in theory but isn’t so in practice, and the palate combines a thin texture, medium body, soft carbonation, and a long sour finish.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
No pheasants were harmed in the creation of Zlaty’s Golden Pheasant. As the name implies, it pours a clear gold colour with a white frothy head. Aroma is grainy, as is the taste. No love lost on this beer.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 4/20
Clear gold pour. Slight retained white head. Smells like a slightly more citrusy pale lager. Tastes both intensely hoppy and full bodied malty. It might be good if it weren’t skunked.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at Abbot’s Ale House. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a little white head. Aroma is caramel, fruit, spice and grass. Medium malt sweetness and a light hop bitterness. Nice and smooth carbonation, with a sweet aftertaste. Quite an interesting and refreshing pilsner, one that I certainly enjoyed.
