I was under the impression that a Heiny was a Heiny...This, however, proves me wrong. Though nothing to write home about, it’s a pretty solid pils. I expected the usual skunk phenom apon opening with the grassy-soap flavour. nah. Roasted hops with a readily good carbonation. Even somewhat roasted gold colour. About time I got a decent green bottle. I see below the emphasis on grassy flavours..damn, maybe they put the wrong pils in my bottle. booya! Hopefully Ill get to try the dark when im in the country this winter

.5 l green bottle. Well, the breakup of the Soviet bloc was a boon for this beer. You can rate all the Czech pils you want, but this is your choice if you want to "visit" the Slovakia part. Well, starts out with a bit of a skunky, stale hop odor. Pours a nice enough fluffy but ruly white head. Heineken pale in color. Still a decent pils malt taste. Kinda of heady alcohol. Rough stale hops palate that says this has been shipped too far in green bottles.

Golden and fairly flat, with a head that diminishes to a scummy film. Adjuncty/corny aroma with grasses and "Band-Aid". Thin and grassy flavor, light bitterness. Slightly burnt in aroma and flavor. Not much worth describing. (Another country knocked off, so that’s a plus.)

Bottle Buffalo Brew Fest. Golden color, white head. Grass and mildly skunky, light pale malt. Somewhat sweet, watch out for the cat piss. Light bodied. Beware the green bottle.

This Bohemian pilsner poured a medium orange gold color from a 500 ml green glass bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is grassy and malty, slightly spicy. A medium bodied pilsner. Malts are grassy, grainy and sweet. Hops are spicy and slightly bitter. Smooth taste. Nice balance. Very decent pilsner, it sort of surprised me. No green bottle taste. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Clear amber with frothy white head and some decorative bubbles. Light carbonation, thin and watery texture. The aroma and flavor showed moderate hops, some malt sweetness, a sour note. The flavor was lacking in anything substantial or noteworthy.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2007 <Bottle at home, b-day 2005> An above avarage pilsner with a clear golden look and a minimal white head. Medium bitterness and a fizzy sensation. Better finish than most pilsners, not as bitter, which is why i find it an above avarage pilsner

Light copper in colour and well carbonated. Saaz hop type aromas are dominant, with some light honey-like malt playing a minor role. The body is somewhat thin and watery, but the flavors are alright, with notes of grassy hops, minerals, and light malt. Not quite bitter enough for my taste, and a little on the simple side, but not too bad at all. It compared favorably to the Urquell I had afterwards.

Golden color with a large fluffy head. Aroma of malt with a bit of skunk. Flavor is malty with a quick hop finish. Very soft mouthfeel. Nice beer for the style.
